Hello everyone! And welcome to the 2008 Entertaining Grime Year of Videogames in Review!
This year, I’ve been joined by Neb, Josh, Conor and Labor for what I can guarantee is going to be an awesome set of articles!

Day One: Lists (http://entertaininggrime.blogspot.com/2008/12/top-fives-of-year.html)
I got a brief respite from family and was hoping this would be up. Thanks for putting this together Six. I look foward to showing this off to the fam.

I thought it was neat that we both picked the same #1 news story without conferring on it at all.
Yeah, and the fact that the DSi both made our top fives was interesting.
You know, after looking through your list again, I would be interested to get your perspective on the used game thing. I think that's going to be one of the biggest issues that will affect consumers in the next ten years or so.

That sounds like a good article idea.
Thanks!

My games of the year: Mario Kart Wii and Warioland: Shake It! Of course, they're the only new games I bought this year. My most played game of the year would either be Guitar Hero II or Wii Sports.
I probably shouldn't bother posting here.

Nonsense! Post away my man. Everyone's always got a different perspective.
Speaking of Warioland: Shake It! I was actually really excited by that title because I miss really solid 2D platformers. It's a great game and a lot of fun.
Interesting pick for day 2 Six. LBP is one game I've been dying to play, but my lack of a PS3 prevents me scoping it out.

Biggest Surprise: How little I played the Wii
I loved Mario Kart Wii this year, and Conor's synopsis captures perfectly what makes it so great. I haven't played it for a while though because my blood pressure just couldn't take it anymore. Maybe when I get home from Christmas break, I'll be in a better place to dust it off and finally conquer the 150cc circuits.

I cannot stop playing Rock Band 2. It is easily the number one party game for my friends and the guys at work.
I enjoyed the heck out of Ninja Gaiden 2. On my list of "to play" are Gears of War 2 and Fable 2.
I enjoyed Ninja Gaiden II, but by the 12th level, I was getting more angry than having fun. The game's action is great, but the game also cheats. Hardcore style.
Six, I've been waiting with bated breath for Day Four!! Where are you? Did the zombie apocalypse happen in your area? Do you need rescue? Is the Earth standing still?

Work was kind of crazy yesterday, the multiplayer award will be up in a couple of hours.
Sorry all.

Day Four: Multiplayer (http://entertaininggrime.blogspot.com/2008/12/multiplayer-game-of-year.html)
I'm really not trying to brag here, but this is by far the best piece of writing on games that I have ever done. I beg of you to take a gander.

Sorry all.
No need to apologize. I appreciate you taking time to do this for the community...and, of course, for stroking my ego by giving the world access to my musings on gaming.
Nice MP article by the way. It was most excellent.

Day Five: RPG's (http://entertaininggrime.blogspot.com/2008/12/role-playing-game-of-year.html)
Another awesome entry with the best line of the whole project (Ben's closing statement)
You know it's interesting that both of our RPG picks for the year involved games that have "choice" as a cornerstone of the gameplay. I think this is a definite trend that will permeate more RPGs in the future.

Six i totally agree with you on Fable 2, fucking sweet game. I loved the freedom, but the shortness got to me a little bit. I destroyed this game in a few days. Although it's probably a good thing since I still haven't finished Mass Effect because of how long it is... and it's really not that bad length wise.
Great Articles thus far!

Day Five: Open World Games (Featuring Josh Flanagan) (http://entertaininggrime.blogspot.com/2009/01/open-wolrd-gaming-or-how-gta-iv-owned.html)
It's interesting the different perspectives on GTA IV. I can see Josh's perspective, and I think some of that links with my feelings on the game being overrated by the press.

Day Six: First Person Shooters ("http://entertaininggrime.blogspot.com/2009/01/first-person-shooters-of-year.html)
Our most surprising picks so far!
I wish they would find some way to get Crysis to consoles...or at least to the masses. The PC you need to run that thing is crazy. From what I've seen of the game, it looks pretty boss. Nice pick.

It's probably the best sandbox FPS since Halo

Day Seven: Action/Adventure Games (http://entertaininggrime.blogspot.com/2009/01/action-adventure-of-year.html)
I posted this yesterday, but forgot to link it here. Oops
I just restarted GoW2 today on Insane difficulty and I had just as much fun with it as I did the first time.

Just wanted to say that I've been loving this series of articles. Great job everyone! I don't play as many games as I'd like to, so it's nice to know what might be worth picking up used down the line.

No problem. We're glad to help. I think all we have left is the game of the year, no?

Can I say that I'm stunned by your runner up? I thought for sure that was going to be your GOTY pick. Now, I'm on pins and needles.

I like the way you think Six. I thought Labor was going to be adding to this as well?
Humphrey your write was excellent as well, and continues to make me wish I had a PS3. Sigh.

He was just too busy. He's been promoted since last year and has less time unfortunately.
