My Sammy LCD broke and I looked on line, it seems this is a pretty common problem

Anyway I'm taking it back and I can either trade it in for the same tv or go plasma. I can get a cheaper plasma but I want to know how bad of a problem Burn in is? Anyone own a plasma and play games on it? Also can anyone vouch for the superiority of the picture quality of plasmas VS LCD? I keep reading that plasma offers better cinema experience and doesn't suffer from fast motion blur.

I have a 42" Hitachi plasma that is 3 years old now that 2009 approaches. I haven't seen any burn-in (or anything else for that matter) and I've played my PS3 pretty frequently and watched blu-rays on it, the whole deal. The longest time that TV has ever been on is 9 or so hours when I watched all the LOTR movies in a row, and then some TV afterwards. Still looks good. But I don't know if burn-in is a long term thing, but I've had it for 2 years and it looks great. As far as plasma vs. LCD, I think they both look spectacular, but I've never really compared and contrasted them. I've also heard that plasma is better looking than LCD, but I'm guessing people that say that are hardcore videophiles that can detect the slightest deficiency in HDTVs of all types.
