I heard "Rock Box" by Run DMC on a YouTube video, so it spurred an iTunes purchase spree of the old school hip-hop that I remember from my youth. What are your faves? Please tell me what else I need in my collection. These songs sound awesome through my Creative Sound Blaster Gold card over my 33 watt Cambridge SoundWorks speakers.

The ones I bought which are my top 5:

Rapper's Delight -- Sugar Hill Gang (I think it's the first published rap song ever, and I bought the extended remix 15 minute version)

Rock Box -- Run DMC

It's Tricky -- Run DMC

Nuthin' But a G Thang -- Dr. Dre/Snoop Dog

Summertime -- Fresh Prince

Kinda Hillarous, last night til 3 am Phatlip and I were trading old school vids, both rock and hip hop. He introduced me to Biggie Smalls, and it was a good thing. (I had heard of him, but never heard his music)

The Message - Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five
Kings of Rock - Run DMC
The Wild Wild West - Kool Moe Dee
Colors - Ice T
Me Myself & I - De La Soul

Ok, so they're not all technically old school, but they are all from the '80s so that's close enough. lol

Just realized I forgot C.R.E.A.M. by Wu Tang, that's my number 1.

Dude, don't even try to go into Wu- (http://www.last.fm/listen/artist/Wu-Tang%2BClan/similarartists)Tang (http://www.wutang-corp.com/). I won't return for a while either...
All the hair is growing out on the back of my neck just thinking about it:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iaKYzCbV2V4

...makes we want to drive all f***ing crazy through a crowded police station
lobby on a nitrous-oxide-turbo-fuel-injected-bullet bike with my hair on fire
but only after center-lining against rush-hour traffic on a freeway with no hands.
Wu-Tang hits a wolf-tone (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wolf_tone) with me, and brings back the wilder time of my youth.

Not fair. There has gotta be 1 badger reference online for every 10,000 wolf refs. (why is that 10,000 number sticking in my head for some reason?)

I know it's not old school, but I like Akon (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4fZF9UsS8LY), and that song reminded me of the track.

I would say that DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-O4sSZc2WCU) qualifies... and one of my favorites:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X_PDns23RWY

...I heard he's gonna be in D.C. for the inauguration (http://www.inauguration.dc.gov/) celebration.
