I like music, i like websites. Too often im listening to music while surfing and my next website happens to have a soundtrack of its own that happens to be 10x louder than winamp. Worse yet are the "Congratulations, you have been selected to win a free...".

How cool would it be if firefox had a volume bar, mute ad option, or just an aparent way to disable all sounds. Of course totaly disabling sound might disagree with internet videos.

does this exist? are these options hiding somewhere?

Kind of. There are a wide variety of programs that play music within web pages, but most of them are flash based. I use the flashblock extension and it works great to stop crap ads from playing.

Alternately, the NoScript extension will almost for sure stop the music no matter what it is, but you might need to enable scripts for the rest of the site to work properly. NoScript has the added benefit of making your browsing safer.
