Slow torrent download speeds

Hey, I am having some very slow download speeds with vuze (and any other client I download). I have tried port forwarding and even the encryption option in vuze and am still having slow downloads, and its on all the computers in the house so I think its because of my ISP (I'm in Canada and I think every single provider in my area is throttling speeds). I was just wondering if there is anything I haven't tried so I can get my downloads going faster then 5-20kb/s. Right now I am even tempted to go back to Limewire and see if I can do any better with that.

Personally, I use transmission, its much more light weighted, and won't bog down your processor, especially if you have a Macbook/iBook or one of the lower-tiered Mac's.

Try always looking for the best seeded torrents of what you want, and don't expect any download speeds at all if you pick a remote one with none. Make sure to always upload, because you'll end up getting rewarded for it with more seeds in the long run. Other then that, I don't know what to tell you, my mac torrent speeds are fine, maybe it's a ISP problem.

See if there's a fairly priced upgrade or a different provider offering some better bandwidth if its that atrocious.

As stayambiguous said, Transmission is the way to go.

If you're looking for music, try to find someone to get you a what.cd account, those speeds will blow you away regardless of what album you want.

As for other files, try to find a torrent file with a lot of seeders and as few leechers as possible.
