I'm glad you are pursuing this. I don't have time tonight, but will listen to it with my morning coffee. Good luck.

Is this some sort of webcast or podcast that you produce?

Yeah, it is a podcast (audio) that I produce.

Hope everyone likes it, feedback is more then welcome.

Also if anyone does any web design or if you think you would make a good guest speaker let me know.

My thoughts first on some things you can work on:
- Music intro/interlude too long at the beginning
- Too many uh's, it's a little distracting. Not trying to make you self-conscious, just one of those things that silly people like me notice
- Topics are a bit "old", but I guess it really depends on who your audience is. I'm more interested in hearing about things that I haven't read/heard before ... search engines are so mainstream that most people may not be interested in hearing about them
- May need a bit more of a script to keep the flow better

On the positive side:
- I actually like how you're all over the place, it's a very "conversational" broadcast
- I like the music, even though it's too long
- Your site looks great, nice and simple

BTW - I love B&J's as well.

Keep it up, have fun, and you'll learn as you go,
Best,
Anita

Thanks for the advice, and compliments.

I am working on the ums, I tend to loose my train of thought.

I am still working on what to talk about, seeing what works well, and what gets the best results. So these first couple "trial" episodes are going to be a little rough, but they should get better.

Thanks
Ben

Well, good news is that the mystery guest speaker that I talked about on the last episode, is pretty much going to happen.

Most likely he will be able to do a interview, for a future episode. You guys should all really like it.

sorry I can't say who, just yet.

My thoughts first on some things you can work on:
- Music intro/interlude too long at the beginning

Agreed.

- Too many uh's, it's a little distracting....

This has improved greatly since episode one, but keep working at it.

-Topics are a bit "old"...

But a good topic for getting your feet wet. A little "easy" as subject matter, but good for you to have to worry less about what to say, and concentrate on how you say it.

- May need a bit more of a script to keep the flow better

Seems more organized than last ep, Keep up the good work.

On the positive side:

...

Agreed

Not a huge fan of the music. Hope your contest works out.

What might be fun for the future is at the end, find a second "random site" and assign it as homework for the listeners, invite them to your forum, and then open the next episode with a discussion about our discussions...

This will promote community, and then when you go to your regular site reviews you can use some of the ideas from the forum as part of your discussion.

Whaday think?

Thats, a great idea.

No it is not double d.

No it is not double d.

Just as well, Double D's don't do it for me anyway...;)

Oh. Do you have a forum to do this with?

And when is the next ep? I wait with baited breath...

And do you have an iTunes feed?

I might be an occasional co-host over skype, but I really hate the sound of my own voice. Weird, but true. I try to edit myself out of my own vidcast as much as possible.

Also; keep improving this podcast and I don't see any reason it couldn't be a rev3 show. It is totally up their alley. The only thing being is that it is not video, which is the whole "kill your tv" thang that they have going, but what might work is the augmented podcast that shows still images as you talk.

The Brilliant Mistake (http://www.thebrilliantmistake.com/)has done this, but needs to be viewed in iTunes or quicktime, I believe, for that to work...

link to such a thang.

(OT: Brilliant Mistake might be a good replacement for Geekdrome, though not the same subject matter, they have fun, wise ass commentary, and really good production quality. I'm a little biased because they gave my podcast a good review on itunes...)

Another "community" thing you might do is have a "does my site suck" segment, where viewer submit their own sites and ask you if it sucks or not. (They will never suck, they will just need some "tweeking" ;) gotta be nice to your audience.)

By any chance, do you have a set time for when each episode will be released?

lunchbox170
12-13-2006, 01:17 AM
Whoa, lot of questions,

No there is not a forum yet, if I get some more interest I will make one.

I could make it a video of my screen, like pixel perfect just always the screen.

The next episode will be next Wednesday hopefully.

Yes there is a iTunes feed. Go to podcasts on the itunes store and search dot web.

Yes there is a scheduled release day for each episode, it is every Monday.
Now episode 3 will not be next Monday, most likely Wednesday, or Thursday of next week. The only reason is that my guest speakers schedule is busy. Dan keeps changing the time. But he says he will do it...shoot I didn't want to tell anyone who I was interviewing. Oh well you can all wait in suspense!

Thanks to everyone for all the great ideas, and feedback, and compliments.
I am really excited about this podcast, and I know it will just get better and better.

Thanks again,
Ben

Hmmmmm, maybe you could try some kind of user registration/member system and possibly get some sponsers. I think that could give the site a boost in developing more features such as forums, video, etc. Just a thought.

All in good time, these are all great ideas. I just want to wait until, the podcast gets a little more interest and I get a few more episodes out.

Once it is moving alone a bit, I will defiantly make a forum and all of your guys ideas.

Thanks,
Ben

Boy, all this 2-way talk is great. It's great knowing that there are sites like this that actually listen to their community. Goooood Job. :D

Well, it is users like you that keep me wanting to produce episodes.

Also check out Revver.com. I'll most probably use them when my vidcast returns from hiatus early next year. (Pregnancy, childbirth, "brewery" reconstruction: aka, Kevins kitchen, have put us on hold).

But several well known podcasts use them: ZeFrank, Ask a ninja, etc...

Look into it. You either save a few bucks for distribution, or make a few bucks if you get enough listeners....

Not spamming, just explaining.
