January 4, 2009 - It's a new year, and Ron is nowhere to be seen. Luckily we have the discussion stylings of Jim Mroczkowski to fill in. There are lecherous blind superheroes and ridiculous chairs in comics this week, and we don't miss any of them.

I, for one, think it would be awesome if Madcap was revealed as the brains behind the abduction of the Original Human Torch's body.

Greetings,

I'm new to the forum, but I thought I would post to let those that may not know that Bill Willingham and Matt Sturges are the new writing team on JSA.

Check question number 11.

Wow, that's great. I am a huge fables fan, and am very excited about what Willingham will do with the JSA, as they are sort of the fables of DC.

I was also underwhelbed by Incognito. I mean, I think it's a good set up and all, but the first issue itself was just not great. It just didn't grab me in the way that the begining to every criminal arc has.

Before I start this let me say that I haven't been reading green lantern recently. I'm way behind so I may not understand the context in which it was meant. I just wanted to comment on your take that hal isn't an optimist and your reasoning is that he's a military man. As a former military man I'd have to say you HAVE to be an optimist. Who else is walking into an area withbullets and bombs coming there way?

That makes sense, but my take on soldiers is far often that of being more pragmatists than outright optimists. Perhaps it's just the way the Blue Lanterns are written, with a certain kind of optimism. Hal is realistic, appropriately skeptical, pragmatic and brave. But he's not going to have blind hope. That optimism is going to come from the confidence he has in himself and his fellow Corpsmen.

But I've never been in the military, so your take on it will be different. Let me know what you think when you read the issue.

I guess that my take was the Ganthet wanted Hal to lead the Blues because he needed hope to defeat the reds and all the other evil lanterns.

It looks like Madcap hasn't properly been in a comic in ten years. And he fought Ghost Rider...?

We have to do something.

His power, you understand, is that he makes you high as a kite by establishing eye contact. The bubble gun is just a conversation piece.

Oh! And he's unkillable in exactly the same way as Wile E. Coyote.

We need more of this in our lives.

I love the explanation of his powers on Wikipedia. I paraphrase:

"Seriously, even if he gets flattened or atomized or eaten, he will come back to life!"

AND he makes you crazy.

Show some restraint, creators.

It would be so awesome if Jason Aaron wrote a Madcap vs. Ghost Rider story with Tony Moore drawing.

Oh I want Brubaker to do this revamp so badly now.

With Steve Epting doing an homage cover.

Hey Conor, have you gotten around to reading "Soon I will be Invincible" yet? After hearing you guys mentioning it I went to the library to check it out. Plan on reading it this week or next. Can't remember if Jim mentioned he enjoyed it or not. I think he did.

Funny thing, I checked it out of the Berkeley Public Library, flipped to the author info and found out that he is getting his PhD here at UC Berkeley! Where I work! If I dig the book I might just drop him an email or something.

Nope. It's at least three books down in my prose stack. It's gonna be a while.
