So I have decided to start collecting Wonder Woman back issues. I realize this opens a can of worms since she has been around for some time. I want to start about the time I came to love the character. I was somewhere around 3 years old or so. So right around 1978. Can anyone recommend a good place to start?

It's not from 1979, but I have heard good things about Greg Rucka's run as well as Gail Simone's current set of issues.

I think Denny O'neil did a run at some point. I think he may have taken away her powers or something....

Yeah, I think that was right around that time (late 70s). And yes, she was de-powered. Much to the chagrin of Feminists everywhere! Heh.

Doh! I was wrong... soooo wrong.... late 60's was when she was de-powered.

Heh. Yeah. Well a Wonder Woman movie may happen yet... but that doesn't help my particular quandary.

Right, except I am looking to start about thirty years back -- not somewhere in the unknown future... ;)

If you want to get into back issues of Wonder Woman then you might want to try the following site -

http://amazonarchives.com/index2.htm

They not only list the back issues but have a synopsis of each, plus a cover gallery. Some great stuff from about the time you're looking for.

Wow, what a great resource. Thanks! I will have to give it a more thorough look when I am not so tired. Heh.

Im not the biggest Wonder Woman fan, but i have heard that the Georges Perez run is THE definitive WW run. I think it was published in the eighties and was a reboot in the same vein as Byrne's Man of Steel. Maybe you should check that out
