Well if you haven't heard the news UGO acquired 1up and fired over 40 employees. Now the 1up show is canceled because pretty much every employee that worked on the show is gone. I think that the show would fit in nicely with revision 3. You can check out their episodes here. http://www.1up.com/do/minisite?cId=3145462

Very very much agreed, that it would be cool to see here.

I think a that a show like "the 1up show" would be severely expensive to produce without the resources of 1up.com and EGM. Besides, it just wasn't the same after the blond-chick with the potty mouth left.

Did you mean, 'withOUT' ?
Having never really explored UGO and 1up, but having followed occasional links there, I've always thought UGO was crap and 1up was pretty good. Plus, the number of gamerfriends that are religous about 1up, that have communicated to me the postitive aspects, makes it pretty clear to see, even from my perspective, 1UP was better.

HA!
I made the exact same post before I ever saw this one. http://revision3.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=11 A mod can go ahead and delete that.
Completely agreed, how would it be expensive. No sets, no nothing. Just a video camera and editing.
GOD I LOVE THE 1UP SHOW REV3 PLEASE SAVE IT. You have no idea the amount of fandom that exists online for this show.

1up.com was the best gaming website on the internet. It's an absolute shame that their podcasts are all being axed, and all those amazing guys losing their jobs. Screw UGO and Ziff Davis. Why the hell would UGO buy 1up only to dismantle it. It completely reminds me of what Comcast did to TechTV.
For those of you not familiar, 1up was, until today, owned by the same company that ran TechTV. Rev3 and 1up share a background. (hence why Garnett Lee was on Tekzilla so often --- speaking of which, he's moving to New York so no more of that)

.. and like what UFC did to PrideFC and what Wally and Mart did to Mommy and Pop.

It really sucks to see one of my favourite podcast go down the drain. The podcast was what I would listen to everyday, on my way to school.
I really do hope Rev3 picks up The 1up Show. Maybe even the 1up audio podcast! It would be a win-win for both the viewers and revision3. The podcast already has ads in it, so the listeners wouldn't really be mad if Rev3 picks it up and puts ads in it, right?

Come on, guys!
Well, Garnet and the boys could probably self-publish 1-up-yours. But, without the steady stream of review titles and the time to play them, the "What are you playing?" segment of the discussion will be much less rich. The show relies on having professional gaming journalists employed in their chosen field.

The 1up podcasts are my favorite ones and without them my podcast repertoire has been reduced by half :(

UGO, without a doubt, blows. Keep an eye out on the former 1up-pers twitter accounts though, they've all hinted that something is in the works, and that we haven't seen the last of them. I don't care where they go, as long as they keep going!

Some of you may have heard that the gaming news network 1up.com has recently been sold. After the sale, most of the staff were laid off. 1up had some of the best video game related podcasts around, including the 1up Show.
Which brings me to my point. I think Revision3 should consider looking into hiring some of these guys for a new, video game centered podcast. I know there is some interest in keeping the podcasts alive already.

UFC and pride made MMA grow tho....
I'm talking about what one DID to the other, not what they were doing for the sport while they were alive and well. UFC bought and dismantled Pride, breaking the promise they made to continue Pride as it was, and firing a couple hundred fighters and several hundred employees.
I'm already going through 1UP show with drawls... I really hope the guys start producing their own show, or revision 3 picks them up to create a show for revision 3 ... sad sad day

YEESSSSS Rev3 PLEASE. Give these guys jobs!! Super talented, built-in audience, industry connections, and an area that Rev3 currently doesn't really cover!! Sure, TRS covers video games, but just as they cover comic books, iFanboy still exists and thrives!!

Yeah, I am listening to the episode right now and they really love doing it and want to keep doing it. I think rev3 should contact them, I can't say I know much about the business end but I think that they should at least talk. I'm sure a lot of people would appreciate it.

well i mean, rev3 is always looking for STRONG shows to put on the network. they only had to have their layoffs and cancellations because those shows were under performing. the 1up show wouldnt have that issue because it already has a solid fanbase. insert rev3 ads + post on site = done.
plus they're all local to the bay, and all former ZD employees. if they worked something out soon they would even capitalize on the news of 1up's closing with everyone frantically trying to find out what's happening to the 1up guys and find replacement podcasts. seems like a nobrainer to me, but, i'm also not the CEO of rev3

They just created a new website with a nice little letter, at the end it reads
"In fact, if you're such a company and like our style, get in touch with us! It's never too early to talk nitty-gritty. For now, an email sent to matt (at) this domain is probably the best way. "
They are practically saying revision 3 pick us up. Man, make my dreams come true.

Jim Louderback needs to call these guys ASAP. The huge community base they have would bring tons of attention to Rev3.

Severely expensive? Usually it consisted of videotaping some of the people standing around an office talking about playing "Left 4 Dead" and the new "Animal Crossing", etc.. The expense was paying the salaries, renting office space, bandwidth, etc.. Rev3 could cheaply reproduce the show; they have the office space and equipment. They'd incur some additional salaries though. Highly worth it to get Garnett Lee, Shane, and the rest.

The ex-1up Show group is really moving fast (If i read it right at their temp-website that they plan to release a first ep of their new 'indie' show next friday).Color me impressed
Rev3 or not, i would like to see Jeff appear on the new show, i remember him fitting in very well into 1up yours when he was on once (or twice, don't remember). A whole of TRS-ex 1up Crossover in the style that the 1up show was shot would be awesome in my opinion.

Garnett is still at 1up, as is the other Retronauts cast so Retronauts and a 'new' 1up yours seem to be still going (from twitters etc.). Shane is apparently gone from the whole podcast-stuff either way.
Also, was it ever documented how many people watched/downloaded the 1up show? It probably could help to estimate the potential crowd for a Rev3-Show, if Rev3 would look into it.

Also, there are probably gamers on the Rev3 staff who'd love to be a part of a video game podcast.
I needs me some more podcast content since it seems that Leo Laporte is in the early stages of shark jumping. He's strapped on the leathers and is circling the ramp. On a recent MacBreak Weekly, Andy Ihnako kept trying to describe a mechanical dart gun he made, and Leo kept cutting him off to talk about some stupid iFart iPhone app.. Never did hear about the dart gun. Tone down the nonsense by 20%.

I heard of the 1up/EGM fallout from another podcast, and I thought of this great idea. I didn't realize others already beet me to it. Well, here's my two cents. I followed Patrick Norton from Tech TV to Ziff Davis' DLTV, where I learned about Cranky Geeks, where I heard about Diggnation, which led me to Revision3, where many of the original Tech TV people ended up. My point is, there must be a huge loyal fanbase that would gladly visit Revision3 if they learned that they are producing a new show here. More site hits means more advertising dollars, right? And as someone else pointed out, Rev3 really doesn't have a dedicated gamers show for the obvious demographic they're serving.
