Let's play a game. Post a picture of a game that you loved as a kid that's relatively obscure and see if we can guess it. Here's mine:

That looks familiar... A little like Magic Carpet and Ecstatica combined, or something, but I don't think that's what it is... Hmm.

Little Big Adventure! Is that right? I also had "Twinsen's Odyssey" on the brain as well, but I believe that may have been the sequel? Dunno. Whatever it's called, it was awesome. I only played the demo though.

THAT'S what I was trying to think of when I said Magic Carpet! I looked up Magic Carpet and it definitely isn't what I was thinking of. Haha, man, it's been years since I saw Twinsen's Odyssey.

Magic Carpet was awesome too. They should totally bring that back. I seriously doubt that Peter Molyneux would be working on it though, so maybe not. Or maybe, depending on your opinion of Peter Molyneux.

What I MEANT was that you might not mind the exclusion of Peter Molyneux if you're one of those dudes/dudettes that doesn't like his stuff.
I'm tired. Having difficulties sleeping. Not making sense. I apologize.

Little Big Adventure!
You win! I actually used to take the cd out and listen to it because it was one of the few games that was also an audio cd. Also, when Twinsen's Odyssey was announced, I remember exactly where I was and saying "I never thought this day would come!" Good times.

You've got me sir. Maybe someone else knows. (I could examine the image source, but that would be cheating)

Something with the word 'Trail' in it.

Legend of Kyrandia! I'm pretty sure I got stuck in that game and never completed it. That was ages ago though. I miss those old adventure games. I was a huge Sierra nut. Freddy Pharkas is still my favorite PC game ever.

I wonder if this will incur any nostalgia for anyone here :)
This was my "pre-Doom" game.

Commander Keen, anyone? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=plXYaKRUEEA
No? How about some Monster Bash? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tfA2TF2JUD0
I wish Apogee had made it through the 90's... it used to be my dream to work for them.

Can't say I've even heard of it...but it did remind me of Wolfenstein 3d.
As far as Commander Keen, I played some of it way back in the 90s, and it came as part of a pack I bought on Steam awhile back...one of these days I'll load it up again.

This looks like a direct copy of Wolfenstein.

Not direct...aliens instead of Nazis...probably the same engine, though.

It was what I played in between being tired of Wolfenstein and waiting (for my friend) to get a copy of Doom. It looks the same as Wolf3d, but as a kid, it feels like a totally different game even if it's using the same engine because of the way the monsters look. It amazes me how much we left to imagination back then. I think we still leave some to imagination because games don't look 100% realistic, but they're getting close.

I didn't really mean content-wise. Everything else. What disturbs me is, I'd never heard of this game, and was playing Wolfenstein back then.

SOOOO many good Commander Keen memories. I just bought the entire thing again from Steam over their sale weekend. Well worth the $4.

Hugo's House of Horrors.
I remember having an insanely hard time actually getting into that darned house. I sorta remember trying the 2nd one, but played a ton of the 3rd. I forget the title, but it was out in a jungle if I recall.
