We've covered a few magic tricks, and we've covered a few street crimes. This episode we're going to combine the two and get a magic trick that acts as a smokescreen for an actual crime.

Watch and get scammed here. (http://revision3.com/scamschool/magicbill/)

Very nice Trick. I saw that before on some English Magicians show but brian pulled it of much more smoothly, since i almost didn't see when he switched the Bills ;)

Um yes Brian of course, for intellectual purposes only...
But seriously this is probably my favorite con yet. Mostly for the fact that you openly bring attention to yourself. Basically telling the mark you are about to do something underhanded. But I guess if the bar is busy then it would be easy to take advantage. It's a real shame this is technically theft, because I would love to play around with it.

Another great episode!!! (except the jager.. I hate the taste of Jagermeister)

Of course instead of actually scamming for a drink you could always have your accomplice use the "Can I get change for this $20" method. to get the money in the cash register.

Come on now.. most of the "bar scams" brian shows are from "the real hustle"(Just youtube it and it'll come up). Revision3 needs to make the show more interesting by having hidden cameras perhaps? Because its not really convincing to the viewer nor to the person being scammed.
If using the hidden cameras it would be useful to have a narrator as well to have that professionalism and authenticity. The show seems bland and cheesy and I would love it if its executed better on a more professional level.

I agree. I think this is one of my favorites as well.

I agree that this one has now become one of my favorites too, because I sat there wondering what the "scam" was. I figured the "trick" was the camera guy placing the bill conspicuously in view after the trick. Then getting it in the till...wow.. I figured you had the help of another bartender. Little did I know you actually did have their help, they just didn't know it either.

And subhantj..the whole "hidden camera" discussion was so done in this thread (http://revision3.com/forum/showthread.php?t=22060). Maybe you need to make your posts more interesting by not being such a friggen Lorite! (just google it) :D

Hmm... So I've got a question. How do us up here in Canada perform this trick? All our money doesn't look the same like yours, eh...

First off, we don't have $1 bills, the lowest denomination bill we have is $5. That wouldn't be so bad, we just wouldn't "acquire" as much money back, but that brings me to our second problem;
Each denomination of currency up here is coloured differently... Our $5 bills are blue, while our $10 are purple, and then $20 are green.... We can't quite swap different valued bills as easily as you show possible in your video.

The only way I can see this working, is if I were to swap the given, signed, $20 with my OWN $20, which is then burned, and the signed one goes back into the till etc. etc. The only thing is, this would become quite an expensive trick, as I'm losing $20 each time!

Any ideas?

Move to a country that doesn't use monopoly money as currency!!!

The idea is that the switch occurs AFTER you wad up the $20 bill, so as long as the switched wad is "generally" the same color as the original bill you are OK. Just switch the fake wad (a $1 bill in the show) with the real $20 and you lose little. Be sure to make the wad tiny so no details are recognizable.

I think Murphy is right on the money on this one. just make sure the bill's wrapped and/or burning before the heavy scrutiny comes in.

There is a UK show who have done this and they folded the bill and hold the bill inside the napkin and let people reach under and touch the bill to make sure it was there and the last person who touched is in on it and removes the bill and buy a beer for it. Same same.
