Daaaamn, we got to watch six minutes of Star Wars Episode 4 in 3-D and it actually worked really well! It wasn't so much about things popping OUT at you, but more about adding depth to the scenes; more like watching a stage than a screen. Things in the background went back into the wall of the theater where they belonged. It was like looking at the coolest diarama there ever was.
I don't know what else there is to say, it's late and way past my bedtime. The show itself was great, with many hilarious moments (a lot of it in between segments so they'll probably get edited out unfortunately).
I passed an idea on to Jeff for a potential live event that he seemed intrigued by. This one could support many attendees and could be done any time. Fingers crossed!
Anyway, thank you to everyone involved in putting this on!!! Thank you, Dolby, for the use of the theater and the 3-D demo. Thank you for the food and drinks, it was a delightful touch that really sent this shindig over the edge of hospitality. Thank you to the TRS cast and crew who took the time make sure everyone got some socializing in until midnight!
(I don't know where they plan to put them, but LOTS of pictures were taken.)

These pictures of the live event are fabulous.
I wish I could have been there, doubly so considering the news of 3D Star Wars business. How did our brave TRS hosts swing something like that?
They must be moving up in the world.

Very true, that was an added wonderful surprise.

The guy taking them runs totallyradshow.com, so they will probably be hosted there.

Just you wait. There was a photog there who was taking a picture every ten seconds during the whole thing.

The event was thrown by Dolby who wanted to display their new technology to someone, and they chose the coolest people in the world to do it to.

I'm extremely Jealous :'(
Can't wait to watch it! (didn't realise it was being filmed!)
Wish I could have gone, but because I live in the UK and don't have enough money to just go to the US for a day... thought it wasn't best to enter lol :P
But TRS should come to the UK soon! :)
Already told Jeff this though...

I think he meant, the next show should just be 'both of us'. Just me and Scoobs talking, or, TRS boys talking about just me and Scoobs.

I think they could do an entire new show just on me. Keep the show title, just insert 'guy' after the word 'rad'. Not saying you ain't rad, but most of your radness does come from knowing me.

I'm so pissed that I couldn't come. Star wars in 3d sounds epic. For those who saw it, was it awesome or did it feel like george lucas tryin to squeeze out the last, tiny drops of the poor, dry cow that is star wars?

It was awesome, but what made it so, wasn't really because it was Star Wars, it was the 3D effect. Also, knowing that this 3D technology looked as good as it it did, when applied to ancient footage, implies some sort of infinite awesomeness if applied to modern projects.
I really could have done without the opening scrolling text sequence though, it only looked good when the first and last words were up. And if you're going to select 6 mins out of the movie . . . y'know?

One of these days, TRS should do the show in 3D. I'd love to have the fist pump explode in the middle of my living room!
The show sounds epic and can't wait to see it. Though of course a little jealousy resides in me knowing that I won't get the same experience! Friggen 3D!

Just got home after flying to LA to see the live show. AWESOME!!
Yes, the Star Wars 3D had me saying "don't f*ck it up, George. Know when to say when." But then I saw the droids on Leia's ship and was instantly hooked.
It was weird at first, because the 3D and the eye strain. But something felt right about it, mainly because you felt like you were watching it live instead of on screen. It brought a freshness to the movie that I thought I would never get back.
Hopefully the eye-strain thing goes away after more than six minutes (actually more like 5 after the scrolling intro) but VERY cool to use us as the guinea pigs.

Dude, thanks for everything. I had a great time and it was fun getting to talk to you.
Everyone else, you missed a great gig. Star Wars 3D is going to ROK, so start googling it now and get the excitement started.

I made it back to NY and may I say that going to LA was worth every cent. I had a really great time and even though it was a short stay I really made the most out of it. I think I saw like half the city. The live show was amazing and just talking to everyone was so much fun. I don't regret going at all and without a doubt would do a last minute trip again.
Star wars in 3D was epic!! Even seeing all the top things on the big screen was cool.

I fucked up what should have been a nice one with Meg. Thankfully her presence makes up for it.
Think I won 'worst pic ever' with that one though.
You are well featured.
p.s. I look like a giant in some of those pics.
p.p.s. I'm surprised how FEW pics have been posted by fans, as of yet.

I was disappointed in my 7 year-old 3.1 megapixel camera's pics. None seemed worthy. Here's an example:

Not bad. Looks like the SubPop label. Better than mine. Only good one I got was the explosion one. And one of Dan looking tired and guilty.
