really, i just want to play this game so i can see what the sniping is like. Ive heard it uses the sixaxis so that if youre moving your hands, the barrel moves with them and that sounds pretty awesome. but besides that not really interested in much and the whole not having a ps3 thing isnt helping.

I'm definitely getting it, but am I hyped? Surprisingly not. I think it'll be a pretty game, and I've been impressed in the videos I've seen - the destructable environments are something I've not seen done like this before.. I am not hyped, though. Or, at least, not over-hyped.
I'm trying to not get so excited for a game like that anymore, because more often than not, I end up disappointed.
Definitely getting on day one, though. Hopefully I'm done with Fallout 3 by then.

I just don't think it will be good...from playing the first installment that was touted to be the "Halo Killer" to all the hype and "in game footage" bs that Sony pulled at different conventions, etc., it just doesn't seem that it will deliver.
I hope I'm wrong.

I take it you haven't seen any actual in-game footage? If you ask me, it meets or exceeds the target render shown all those years ago..
And most of the big gaming sites that have talked about it seem to have had mostly only positive things to say about it, including the 1UP guys. Apparently the final code has been out for a while. People I know that have played the beta seemed to be very impressed with it.

The "Halo Killer" stigma was started by the media. For the fans, it was just another FPS that looked good for it's time.
So, basically, you shut off after the in "in game footage" claims and debacles right? That was almost 4 years ago. Since then, the game, as stated by the above poster, has nearly surpassed the target render. The graphics are undoubtedly amazing but the gameplay seems to be on the same level as the graphics according to the previews. What sets it apart from the usual hype from me are the testimonials of all the BETA testers. Just go over to neogaf and read the gushing over that this game is getting. I am hyped and maybe overly so but I doubt that I will be disappointed.

Anyone know if it's going to allow you to play 4 player split-screen online like Halo does? The most fun I have with fps's is either playing 2 player co-op with a friend or playing some death match or team games with 4 friends online.

As someone who has played it, it is the most technically impressive FPS for consoles I've ever seen. It's sci-fi but to me it feels more modern day realism than anything. You character has a real sense of weight which is often lacking in most games. Enviroments are great. I hope this sells like crazy because if I had to label one thing "halo-killer" which I would hate to do, it'd be this. I think this along with CoD4, is going to be a defining FPS of the generation.
For the record I do think Halo 3, L4D, and a few other FPSs could be considered "defining" but this is going to be a big game. There will be gushing indeed.
I did have some problems however. But they were pretty fixable so I'm sure the game has fixed them by now. It went gold as of yesterday too. Pretty early so they must be expecting crazy sales.

I'm buying it, but we all though LittleBigPlanet would do well too, and Resistance 2, and both were pretty disappointing in the sales department. It's possible for great games to sell very poorly (see also: Zack & Wiki, Valkyria Chronicles). It's sad when the third Raving Rabbids game, in as many years, outsells games like those.

LBP : new IP and it is still selling well.
R2 : man, that game got raped in all the reviews...great game. I like the co-op a lot.
Average Wii games outselling "gamer blockbusters" is a travesty.
KZ2 will sell very well. I will predict sales that at the very least match MGS4 sales

Not going to happen if they don't start advertising the damn game. Every person who has a PS3 should know the date it's released, everyone who's on the fence, everyone who has interest in shooters should know the release date. MGS4 did fairly well world wide, but it was a sequel in a series with a large fan base with a history of great games. KZ2 is a sequel to an average game that was shot down because it was over hyped. KZ2 has a worst fight then a new IP would because it has to overcome the reputation of the first game and the E3 '05 CGI trailer. Sony needs to make the launch an event, similar to what MS does with their big games or Ubisoft did with Assassin's Creed, something that grabs the attention of everyone, gamers and non-gamers alike. This is Sony's chance to make a big splash early in '09 and they seem to be dropping the ball in terms of advertising.

Killzone 2 demo is up in Europe. Make a UK account and download it. Or pre-order at GameStop and download it in North America today (also having a North American code giveaway tonight).
Also, it's been pre-ordered over 1.1 million times. Reportedly, that's only in Europe, but I'm not sure - that wasn't made clear in the original source that I read, but other sites are repoting it's Europe only.
Nobody tried the demo? I am so excited for this game especially after playing it! Man, my jaw was dropped throughout the first playthrough. Graphics, Sound, Gameplay...all fantastic! Any other thoughts?

I definitely know now why people talked about how it controlled. It does take some getting used to the cover system.
The demo itself was fun and with the talk of it's great multiplayer, this will probably be a day one purchase for me. This is a game I can see myself going back to more than once just to see how good it looks. That said, it still feels very generic in terms of basic gameplay as well as what little story I saw in the demo. I hope the full game changes my mind, or I hope that overall game is so great that I'm willing to overlook those few issues.
