So I plan on turning my website which is a blog at the moment to a website to display my photos.

I have seen a few sites out there to help choose colors and what colors go with other colors.

I just can't seem to decide on what colors would suit me. Anyone have suggestions?

i'd love to help you :)

i was going to be a professional colorist before i decided on music

is same thing only one is visual other aural

i have a link somewhere that lets you take any picture you like and extract the palette from that

like a pic of mt everest or an island sunrise / sunset

so think of pictures you like for their color range

i'll look for it brb degraeve color palette (http://www.degraeve.com/color-palette/)

and this is a great site for color

i like pastels when it comes to websites. whether that would work for you i don't know but soft colors always appeal to me online.

too many people use white white white

even using light grey or ivory would be better

i like dark backgrounds myself with lighter letters

Chartreuse and burnt sienna (maybe umber) with slate grey highlights.

remember it is to display his photos so should be somewhat neutral so pictures take 'pride of place'

Darker background so the colors of the pictures stand out sounds good to me. But I dont know this kind of stuff...

I say make it monochromatic. Have all your pictures posted and
arranged in black and white. It will load fast even in dialup. Make
the clickthru link to a selection of various scalable sizes and the
option for colour if applicable. Make sure to alt tag the stuff, and
make decent headers, style sheets that put the emphasis on fast
loading and content rather than cool fonts or html/java trickery.

After I decide on colors I need to look for a easy to use and fast loading photo gallery script or something.

Aww man, this thread isn't about the devall/penn movie. I was ready to talk about my favorite soundtrack on cassette.

I'm afraid to click on that, I think it might be a picture of Rabids penis.

nothing to fear, from the link, or Rabid's penis.

So many color choices hard to decide. I already got a bg image I am going to use.

i like the link in my former post where you take an image and it extracts the palette from the image

once you have the palette you can changes the values slightly to deeper or lighter of each color to tweak it

is much the same as writing music you chose your melody line (i just sing it) and then you analyze (theory) it and tweak a few tones or notes to make it yours

you can also make the image very much like a faint watermark for the background

i can't wait to see your gallery showing :)

I think I may stick to basic html for the layout and forget about css except on a few things. Don't feel like doing css right now.

May change it over in the future though.
