I couldn't find a thread for this great game. It's been a long time since I've had so much fun with a game.
At first it's so intense, even a bit scary and chaotic. Then it sort of get really tactical and still intense at moments.
Versus is so much fun, if you're a good team of four people all mic'd up. Brilliant fun.
I live in Northern Europe, and my gamertag is simon2it if anybody's on.
But anyway, what are you guys thinking?

I played through solo and it was pretty cool. I still like dead rising better.

If you've only played Left 4 Dead solo you don't really have any sense of the game. I'd say Dead Rising is a much richer solo player experience. Left 4 Dead's genius is definitely in its multiplayer. It requires complete teamwork to make it through, especially on levels above Normal. The game has been out for a few months now and it still results in my friends and I yelling in excitement every time we play.
It's pretty incredible that a game that has just 4 very short campaigns can be so much fun to replay over and over again. We'll get our asses handed to us, and we'll plan accordingly for the next time we play and somehow the game still manages to throw us a complete curve ball that makes the plan fall to shit pretty quickly.
You spend the entire game sticking close together, trusting one another to quickly step in with the save when required, and everyone remains pretty selfless. Then you get to the final moments when the rescue vehicle has almost arrived and it turns into "I'll save you if I'm almost positive I won't get overrun myself."
I'd say the game is still worth playing multiplayer even if you don't have a group of friends to specifically play with. The consensus is usually to kick anyone out of a game that isn't using the mic since that makes teamwork impossible, and if anyone is really being a dick you have two options to take care the situation. You can either wait for them to die and then leave them in the closet where they respawn, or you can call a secret vote with the other players to remove the offender from the game (or so I've been lead to believe). I've had an amazing amount of fun with random people online with this game. I had a game with one of my friends and a guy whose primary language was Japanese that only knew a few words in english, and I can't even begin to describe how much fun that experience was. The teamwork would sometimes fall apart because of the language barrier, but the results were usually hilarious and all 3 of us were clearly having a blast.

Well 134 hours into playing L4D, I may safely say it's the most fun CO-OP game for the pc to date. The VS mode is spectacular and exemplary fun. You can't beat the feeling you get after raping a poorly organised survivor team, giving them a grand total of 2 points as they failed to get off the roof successfully.
The CO-OP is just for the starters really as it becomes tedious very quickly after you've completed them on expert difficulty. I've played it on the sexbox as well, the slower scroll speed detracts a bit but it always will be a factor regarding console play and doesn't spoil the fun.
If you're a reformed Counter-Strike addict like me it's a refreshing change to rely on your teammates rather than dick on them. :D
Well there's 'my 2 cents' as you yanks like to say, :)

Playing Left4Dead solo is like playing World of Warcraft solo. It's not designed as a game to be played solo. It's not even designed to be played two people. You only get 100% out of this game if you're four players, and you all have mics or are sitting together.

I've been enjoying Left 4 Dead a lot. My favorite experience was playing Vs. with 7 of us. So we really had nearly a full game. Even though I die fast as infected I had a lot of fun killing the survivors. Most gratifying was being the tank and killing all four of them.

L4D is GREAT with friends, sadly not many of my friends have picked it up(other than my lovely family here at rev3)
But Dead rising? thats a total solo player game, all about the story in that.
