Alright, so I just signed up for an account, but I have been watching scince episode one and have been reading the forums, and forgive me if this has been discussed but...A superhero MMO? Why has Jeff's head not exploded!?

This looks to be the same guys who did City of Heroes/Villains, which, although I admit had flaws, I loved very much. But it looks to have adressed all the issues I had with CoH.

-Even better customization (including power appearence)
-Strengths/Weaknesses
-No archetypes, which to me means I can finally have someone with claws shoot lasers out of his eyes, whilst on fire. My dream for years.
-Create your own archvillain
-Much more action oriented (I will say I doubt this one)
-PC/360

Look into it if you are at all disappointed by my brief features list, because I could not be more exited.

Also, I am 90% sure our Rad overlords have discussed it before on the show, back when it was supposed to be the Marvel MMO. Honestly, how could this fail? Again, I apologize if I am a little late, but I just now found out about it and figured it'd be a nice first post.

ya, It's actually the remnants of what was supposed to be the Marvel MMO that was turned into this after that was cancelled. Perhaps Jeff is angry about losing the Marvel MMO (I know I was).

That being said, I am not excited anymore at all for this - After watching the trailers - I was excited at first then I thought to myself, I'm sick of these games where you don't actually control anything, it's just stats and lame dated visuals attached. For games where you pay monthly, after buying the game no less, you should get MORE functionality then you do from regular games but you don't. What makes these games special are the communities, however those are available in guilds and clans for other games too. Not to mention, you are forced into this long-winded grind to level up according to their profit-maxing schedule and to make good on that and be the best you can be, you have to forfeit most other great games out there and play this thing a lot. I can go on and on and on...

This game should replace CoH and CoV, however yet ANOTHER problem with MMOs is that once you've invested so much time and effort (and been robbed of so much money), it's so hard just to throw that all away and move to a new one.

It's the same reason why WoW is hurting production of so many other newer and more innovate projects. So many have been cancelled, even before they came out (like Marvel Online) because people are still paying large amounts of money for a game with 9 year old graphics where you do the same thing over and over and over with different 3D models in front.

The customization options on Champions looks great - Beyond able to choose any colour code for your powers is awesome.

So, has anyone else pre-ordered Champions Online? We have, and have downloaded the beta client for the Open Beta that begins tomorrow (Monday).

Being that my first ever MMO experience was City of Heroes, I'm kind of looking forward to playing around with Champions. Especially after getting seriously burned out on WoW...

I pre-ordered this weekend.. and might get the box for the open beta by the time I get home this weekend. I may or may not get to play the beta, but I'll be there for early access. I enjoyed COH/COV and am looking for something a bit different to poke around in.

If that lifetime subscription would apply to all of their MMOs, I'd buy it. As it is, I'm not sure about buying another MMO that'll likely end up abandoned after my one month trial is up. (I'm looking at you, Age of Conan).

I'm not entirely clear how this is that different from CoH/CoV. It looks the same to me, other than the slight graphic difference. Is it more pvp than pve? Anyone who's tried it care to elaborate?

Just saw that Champions Online was released on Steam so I guess you who preordered it has played quite a bit of it by now.

What do you think?

Sometimes I miss City of Heroes a bit... but it got really boring with the grind and "everyone gets the same quest"-problem all MMORPGs seem to have. Is this just a dressed up CoH or is it really something fresh?

I've been playing it for the last few days and been loving it.

I played in the beta for a week or so and enjoyed it quite a bit. Anyone interested in starting up a TRS guild (or Supergroup or whatever they call it)?

I was playing the beta and its pretty fun and I would get into it but I've already pre-ordered Aion and simply can't wait for that to come out.

I spent most of my time in character creation such an amazing thing, so fun.

It's such a hassle to juggle two mmo's one steals enough time.
