First of all i know very little about computer programing..=\
alrite heres the problem, i decided to reset my computer cause one of my games wouldn't load. Everything was fine until i get this screen where it said "the comp faced a problem cause i didnt turn it off correctly..w/e"so i started normally and resulted in a reset right before it reaches the windows and a blue screen comes up (assuming its the BSOD or w/e) really quick and i cudnt catch anything on it, then last known config....still resets(same as before)...soooooo now i tried safe mode, perfect nothing wrong, safe mode with networking..works as well no problem. I can't seem to find anything wrong in safe mode to fix my problem.
i would go to the comp store but...i js went there a week ago with the same problem so now i want to fix it myself or try.
last time my mem stick had a scratch so they said that was the problem, but i didnt catch anything else. i checked my mem stick and its fine, i think....
so solutions,help, or w/e
btw, the guy that fixed the computer somehow accessed a new menu, and there was an option of rebooting on a failure or w/e and he turned it off, btw he wasnt in the BIOS menu....sigh this is pissing me off

Lol scratched ram... anywho, right before the windows loading screen hold F8. Disable automatic restart will be an option. It's probably just driver related.
[edit]
Actually that was only added in SP2, so since u installed over your current copy of xp, and im guessing sp2 was slipstreamed, you're relatively ****ed... or maybe im just tired...

Do this:
Right click on my computer
Select Properties
Go to the Advanced Tab
Go to Startup and Recovery
Click the Settings button
Deselect Automatically Restart
That is probably what he did.
What kind of computer do you have? Next time you are inside of the case, have a peek at the capacitors on the board. They should look like barrels and have like a K or an X etched in the top of them, if they are bulging or popped that is your problem.
You need to maybe run Memtest86 once you get your computer booting.
Also update all your drivers.
At any rate let me know what type of PC you have.

Wow i was tired, i didnt even see him mention that safe mode worked. If that is the case then it is definately a driver issue. Most likely video or audio since u said ur game stopped working.
Go to start>run and type "devmgmt.msc" and hit enter.
Now look under Display Adapters. Post the name of what it says there in the forum here and ill help u find drivers.
[edit]
And good advice about the caps. Had a user whos computer wouldn't start, power supply (which was faulty i thought) was shutting it down as soon as the hard drives got spun up. I ordered a new one. Didnt work. ordered another one since it was a cheapo, didnt work. In the end i looked at the mobo and seen on of the X's on a cap was more like a pyramid.

i am using a windows XP pro...i don't know what computer model im using since i bought it from one of those non official computer stores, but i had this comp for 2 years and it never had this before til this year. its like a custom made computer, made by those guys anyways.....
For the Display Adapter part- NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200
and i dont think anything is out of the ordinary inside my computer ( i have a see through side panel, but ill open it just to be sure.
Response to Sevver- Cap are fine nuthing budging out or exploded...but i did find sumthing...which is accumulated dust -.-...there not piled up or anything but if u use a flashlight u can see em and my cooling fan is kinda dusty...soooo should i use tissue lol....or sumthing, but other than that i dont notice anything wrong, well to my knowledge....
<<After trying to deselect auto restart>> ok this blue screen comes up after asking to select one of the 4 modes saying:
STOP:c0000218 {Registry File Failure}
The Registry cannot load the hive (file):
\systemroot\system32\config\software
or its log or alternate
It is corrupt, absent, or not writable
i felt sad when i read this...even though i have no idea what it is talking about i know something is broken or w/e. I just had this problem recently (so this is the second time) and the guy fixed it but i had to buy a new memory stick cause the last one was scratched (i got pissed off and pressed reset like 10 times and then pressed the power switch)after getting it fixed everything was fine, and now 3 days later, THE SAME THING HAPPENED. I wasted my parents money for the new mem stick but i don't want to waste even more (if i go back to the store)
*sigh*

i did download something that day, .NET framework 2.0 but i doubt it does anything.
btw i just remembered i left my computer on for more than 12 hours, and i went to sleep, then when i woke up i decided to play a game but it didnt start saying something was blocking it (gameguard program that blocks hacks and asks you to turn off your antivirus thingy or firewall) so i restarted my computer and this thing happened.
btw no sounds are coming out in safe mode, is this normal?

"From within the console I changed directories down to system32/config and saw that SOFTWARE (the Registry Hive) was in fact there, and was of a reasonable size for this simple machine (about 26 megs). I ran chkdsk /p (it's /p, not /f, inside the Recovery Console) and it found and fixed errors. Rebooted and was were back in business." i got it from this site (http://www.hanselman.com/blog/CommentView.aspx?guid=be76269f-9bdb-449d-aea4-f85a681a9dd4#commentstart)
does this method work, and how can it be accomplished.

Yeah safe mode has a minimal set of drivers so it wont work. It's wierd that you are throwing registry errors and are still able to boot. Count your lucky stars. I see two possible probs:
Failing hard disk. This would make sense but i cant figure out how it would still be able to load in safe mode. It is possible that the physical area on the disk that contains the driver information (somewhere in currentcontrolset) is corrupted and therefor when that data is not accessed (which it wouldnt be in safe mode) it doesnt throw an error. However copying the last known config should have fixed it.
Go to start>run and type cmd
Now enter:
chkdsk c:
it will check C: for errors. if any are found then use
chkdsk c: /f
A driver is causing it to go all f*cky. Go to start>run
type "msconfig" , hit enter. Now go to the boot.ini tab. In the bottom check the "/BASEVIDEO" box. This will start windows normally but only using the generic video drivers. If that doesnt work go back into msconfig and uncheck /BASEVIDEO. Now check /BOOTLOG. Start windows normally. After it crashes go back into safe mode. Now check c:\windows\ntblog.txt and see what failed. Post it here if you're not sure.
You also may wanna try system restore but i dont know what it will do to documents outside of your My Documents folder.

ok js ran chkdsk
here are the results
The type of file system is NTFS
Warning F parameter not specified
all three stages are completed..the files indexes and security.
a large number-total disk space
a slightly smaller number than b4-in 51175 files
even smaller number- in 3538 indexes
0- in bad sectors
sum number- in use
sum number- occupied by log file
numer- available on disk
seems normal
