Hey guys, I'm almost on a one-man mission to bring this movie into light because I saw it a couple of weeks ago here in NYC with a friend of mine and absolutely loved it despite having never heard of it. I hope it's still in theaters long enough for Jeff, Alex, and Dan to check out over in Cali, but I was just wondering if I wasn't alone in this. I just sent them an e-mail this afternoon about it and there's what I said because I'm too lazy to re-type.

"Here is a movie that you guys must watch and pass along. My friend Danny dragged me to the movies to the other day after work here in NYC and I had a ton of other movies on my list - Doubt, The Wrestler, Frost/Nixon, Valkyrie, etc - but we ended up seeing this Swedish film called Let The Right One In.

12-year-old vampire girl establishes a relationship with a 12-year-old boy. Beheadings ensue, beautiful cinematography, and an amazing story. 97% on RottenTomatoes, and I took my girlfriend to see it. That was my second time. I almost NEVER see movies more than once in theaters.

It was very, very good.

I highly suggest you guys watch and review it for the show, if you can. The hard part is that it's been out in theaters for a little while and they're mostly playing at indie places, but this movie definitely deserves your attention.

You've picked a worthwhile film for sure, but it's getting tons of buzz and the guys reviewed it way back on episode 84.

It's definitely one of my favorite films of last year, and it is incredibly original. I saw it 2 months back and I still find it entering my thoughts on a semi regular basis. I can't wait to netflix it so my wife can see what all the fuss is about.

Ah, thanks for letting me know. Yeah it was an awesome movie. I haven't seen the show in a while - as typically happens with me and podcasts. I'll watch a few weeks in a row and then miss a bunch - and I was like "this movie is totally rad" which made me think of the podcast again.

Episode 84. Gotta check it out.

I personally loved Let the Right One In. It's one of the only vampire movies I've ever liked. I dragged my cousin and aunt to go see it. My cousin loved it and my aunt hated it.

I really liked the movie but I really thought it could've done without the whole in-your-face blood/kills thing and done a little more of the subtle off-screen stuff. I loved how it wasnt about being a vampire though.

I think the movie really earns those moments. They aren't cheap kills. None of them are random. They are always the end result of a great deal of character development, except for the one moment near the beginning which is itself an indication of what that man's role is in the vampire's life. I think the scene in the pool at the end is one of this movie's most amazing moments, and it really sets up the last scene. I left that movie somehow uplifted and heartbroken at the same time.

Yeah, the author elaborates on this further in the book.

I mean I understand they all had a purpose, I just felt like it was leaning more towards the in-your-face blood and violence without and purpose behind that besides making it feel like this is supposed to be a horror movie. That said though, I don't know that I would've liked and appreciated the end as much as I did if it wasn't so different from the rest of the movie.

To me these moments were necessary. They reinforce that he, in spite of appearance and his relationship with the young boy, is still very much a vampire and is ruled by that nature. If those things happen off camera you lose some of that.
