The voice in this teaser trailer is terrible but this indie film is getting lots of buzz out of sundance film festival. Have a feeling Jeff and Dan will love it.

I'm pretty sure I'm the only person that likes the voice in the trailer.
Also I love Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel so I'm in, no questions asked.

The song in the trailer is "Sweet Disposition" by The Temper Trap

Great Song. Cant stop listening to it.

I'll have to wait and see more before I develop any real thought on it. I wasn't crazy about the clip where Joseph Gordon-Levitt holds the animated bird.

This film looks really interesting and the cast seems to be rock solid, I hope to see it when it comes out. Also, the voice is a little weird, but after you watch it again, it is not as bad. The music is great, can't stop listening the song.

Looks like something I'll really enjoy, especially with the element of the main characters love of music, and that incorporating into his journey. Between that, the likable leads, (especially Zooey), and the music element, this has potential to be something I'll really... really... enjoy. My only fear is the musical parts not being handled well, or feeling awkward and clumsy, but there's a possibility it could be pulled off well. So, yes, very excited now.

Based off the trailer this looks like a sweet movie. I think it will be great, ill watch anything with Zooey.

For some reason the voice reminded me of Morgan Freeman, and that distracted me from the trailer a little and only made me think the trailer would be even better with Morgan Freeman's voice. Looks like a fun, heart warming type film.

ok, Zooey made me interested...the voice and the animation turned me off completely.

I just noticed this, but the trailer looks very, VERY similar/exactly like "Le Mépris" de Jean-Luc Godard trailer...

I'll still wait for this movie cause it appears to be a good one.

Yeah, does look kinda similar. Very different films though from the look of it... Mepris means contempt and is about a couple who hate each other. The husband sort of pimps his wife to get some work.
It's probably a more general take on 60's trailers than specifically Le Mepris. Maybe there is another Godard trailer which is closer still.

Yeah I know both are different films, its nice that they made the trailer look that way, I love that its "refreshing" in a way.

so after hearing the guys talk about this film, i tracked down the trailer, and i have to say i am really psyched about this movie, the song was good and the voice was kind of annoying, but the story and style, just screams that this is going to be a movie i am going to love, i hope. can't wait to see it

Honestly I was expecting more from the trailer for how much the guys talked about it.
It looks interesting yeah and I kinda get the Garden State trailer comparisons. However I fucking loooooooooooooved the Garden State trailer, honestly I must've watched it a hundred plus times, it's wonderful, but yeah this trailer didn't hit me quite as much. I'll keep an eye out though as Zooey Deschanel is bloody adorable.

Pretty much felt the same. I think that watching the trailer for the first time, the voice over took me by surprised and I was turned off by it the whole time. Though, second watching and it's grown on me.

So I read up on the film a little. While I don't love the trailer (it's sweet but it's too short and there's not much to it) judging from the sypnosis of the movie I may love it.
The main dude is described as a 'hopeless romantic' and will apparently burst into song. Those two facts right there will probably assure that I adore the film. I'm a bit of a romantic myself so I always get really drawn into characters like that andy anytime someone randomly bursts into song in something that isn't technically a musical always tickles me. I loved that in Pushing Daisies, some of my favourite moments.

The voice over got a bit annoying near the end due to the repetition of "500 days..." but other than that this is definitely a movie I'm excited for.

For anyone who interested, there is a new trailer here: http://www.apple.com/trailers/fox_searchlight/500daysofsummer/. It provides a little more insight into the plot of the movie, so keep it in mind if you are like Jeff.

I got a chance to see this s few weeks back through school/work and it was really damn good. It can be a little indie by numbers at times but there are a lot of really phenomenal moments in it that more than make up for it, especially an awesome musical number that's worth the price of admission alone. Bottom line, I really, really liked it and recommend everyone check it out when it comes out over the summer.

The new trailer is good just because it develops the characters a bit more, but that first trailer was way better. I actually really liked the throw-back voice over dude--felt very 70's-esque. Zooey is so cute, how can you not love her?

I like that the trailer doesnt rape the movie...and that we get to see more of it when we actually go and see it....or borrow it off the interwebs.

What does "thrown off a bit" mean? Because I'm very excited by that trailer, but there is a demon of caution wending its way through my mind.

well it was thrown off a bit, because it's your typical romantic comedy trying not to be a typical romantic comedy. it had some good parts, and i may see it again when it gets an released everywhere.
