Dr. Phil had the creator of bumfights.com on the show and after showing an intro of the guy explaining himself Dr. Phil looked at him and said he didnt want to talk to him and told him to leave. Dr. Phil said it was because he didn't want to "publicize" him.

This is the biggest pile of BS I ever seen. I am 100% against bum fights but Dr. Phil did this for for publicity. If he really didn't want to publicize him he wouldnt of gave him the air time to begin with. Dr. Phil DID publicize the guy as well as himself. All he did was generate an interest to learn more about it. People watching at home are going to want more info on the site whether to support it or be against it. Almost any publicity is good publicity and unfortunately that is the case with this as well. How do you guys take this?

Just get right to the root of the problem and hate Oprah.

Looks like the Dr didn't watch the footage before hand and do to the fact the guy was making fun of him by dressing like him. Phil if he isn't right he always twist things so he is.

I think he was well aware of what he was doing.

It's all a work. The bumfight dude gets his name out there and he gets paid for being on the show. Dr. Phil keeps his heat as being a tough ass dude, but we all know behind the scenes Dr. Phil shook his hand and all that jazz.

He says he just saw the footage. But of course thats probably a lie. That guy should be in jail for stupidity...so should the the bum fight guy. :D

If he didn't want to publicize it he would have never showed the footage. But millions of drones follow everyone of his words. He just wanted to make it look like he was a big man and disgusted with it. The plan was he wasn't going to talk to him anyways and just kick him off.

Either Dr. Phil really is that stupid, or he DOES want to help out this guy. I hadn't even had Bum Fights cross my mind until I saw this thread. Now I'm watching this video on YouTube. Good job, Phil.

Exactly, I just hate how he said he "didn't want to publicize him" when he clearly was. I wouldn't have cared as much if he didn't say that.

I just thought about this for a second, and truly realized how pathetic it is.

Phil says, "I don't want to insult my intelligence or that of my viewers."

So you're telling me that:

1. You hadn't rehearsed the show at all or researched your guest. Sure.

2. You allowed this guy to walk out on stage in a COSTUME, and are trying to make people believe this isn't an act.

3. You say, "I don't want to publicize you" but you present him and his clips to potentially MILLIONS of viewers, along with any buzz you could hope to generate among potential viewers.

The folks over at the Phil Show realized no one gives a shit about him anymore and they tried to pull a stunt to make people interested. Sorry, Phil, no one cares, and no one is buying this. Your show is a glorified Jerry Springer show.

The Dr's guests seem to be getting wilder and wilder. I have a feeling he is going to make a huge mistake one day and ruin his career. I watch his show when ST:TNG is a ep I don't wanna see. The way he insults people is funny and rarely he may actually give good advice.

Isn't that the way Jerry Springer started too?

Also, the guy makes an excellent point. Just as the bum guy exploits people so does Dr. Phil.

I cannot stand Dr.Phil, he exploits people and makes a dollar doing it.
He told the audience before the bumfights footage started to get kids out of the room, that it was awful and not appropriate for them to watch, so in my eyes he knew exactly what was about to play. What he did was just a chance for him to look good by kicking the bumfight guy off. I dont agree with the bumfights thing, but that guy should of said "thank you" to the DR for the publicity and walked off smilling!!

Even Maury is going the way or trash. Yeah, once upon a time, back in the day, I watched Jerry for the actual value it had. Yes, it has legit value. Now its entertainment of the sickos.

This reminds me of the "Balls-on-Chin" episode of South Park where the kids mention that Maury exploits people for money and tries to justify it by giving prizes.

Only here, Phil pretends to be pissed at someone else for doing exactly as he's doing.

Simply put, if he didn't want to promote this guy, the whole segment would have been cut.

If this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phil_McGraw) is correct, then we're stuck with him through 2014.

The "behavioral approach to psychology" is a LOAD OF SHIT. How it works isn't like on the show, but you pick specific incidents and then have to go through and find out where you are wrong with the purpose of invalidating how you feel or think. Supposedly, if you can invalidate your own thoughts and feelings, then you will be happier because you won't trust your own negative emotions. This failing is part of the final straw that got me to join Scientology. I tried that whole "behavioral approach to psychology" and it just sucked and was depressing and it's really not nice when you're having to find ways to believe that someone hurting you is a problem on your end because of something you did rather than simply being allowed to acknowledge that some people are just idiots who have such parge issues that they will hurt someone else to try to make themselves feel better.

A single episode, or a sigle session, is NOT going to change someone's life in any permanent, meaningful way. This is emploiting the vulnerabilities of people.

Oprah is such a *****. She hails this guy like he's God, pulls stunts like the Pontiac-thing a couple years ago, let Cruise take the fall for jumping on the couch (she dared him to do it, then, when he took the dare, let him look stupid for it like he did it on his own), etc.. Oh some show she did, she was talking down about peope who didn't make a lot of money, how it's all funny that the best her mother oped for her was that she might get to clean white people's houses because they sometimes give away nice clothes but instead she's not got all white people working for her (essentially, "Ha ha, Whiteys!"), etc..

It's even more ridiculous that it's on CBS' official YouTube channel.
