I felt like being special and starting the discussion thread, so here it is:
Brian introduces a new diabolical coin puzzle to stump your friends.



all in all, another good puzzle with coins that, once you memorize the solution, is a quick and easy guaranteed effective scam.

Brian: how do you come up with these? are they ones people have shown you, or do you sit there with coins, matchsticks, etc. and play around until you come up with something devious?

i figured out the same solution about 1 min and 30 sec after he gave the rules. maybe i just got lucky, i don't normally see a solution that quick.....maybe being sober helped too...just maybe

i love how brian increases the wager, then gives the bar tender the solution before the guy can figure out the full solution. then calls it a push and walks away with a free beer. thats how socal engineering should be used. i'm just not sure if it was done of purpose, or if it just ended up that way?

That's the same solution as Doji's, only oriented differently. I solved it the same way Doji did, by the way.

lol nope, but i know someone who recently finished that book! The name comes from DUM DUM DUM!!!!! yea i watched this episode on the itunes podcast. I think this was a pretty good trick and all the tricks that have to do with the toothpick moving around and the one with the bank and the beer bottle devious devious =P

Yeah, I just found out about Scamschool yesterday, been watching all the videos from episode 1 today. .. I figured out the one with 4 quarters in about 30 seconds. I used to do lots of brain teasers, and used to be an amateur magician. I knew from the way the rules were stated that it had something to do with separating the quarters. I also thought the same thing when he said the rules to this one were the same as that puzzle. So the first thing I did was separate one corner of the triangle. And the alternate solution just fell into place.
