Just curious. I registered here the moment I got here, and I notice in most forums I've visited that the lurker vs active member ratio tends to be about 10:1. But here it's crazy high for lurkers. Why?

*Shrugs* ask the lurkers...

The number of 0 post users created each day is amazing. They "look" like they are lurkers ... when in fact many of them are spam bots that are blocked from posting. Until they actually post some spam, we dont know if they are a legit user or a bot, so we don't ban - just in case they ARE lurkers.

So, not all lurkers are lurkers, some are toasters.

So why not require require all new users to post at least a brief intro within a week, even if they never post again? You don't need an account to lurk here.

Or they can do what they've been doing. It seems to be working pretty good. I have not seen too many spam posts and no bots.

Yeah but then paying members would have to be excluded and it would be all too confusing.

If only you knew how hard the ban stick gets swung around here some days ...

I know how hard, with what does get through. And I know that for each one that does get posted that there are many, many more being deleted.

So paying members automatically have accounts here?

Actually, the main site's login information is tied to the forums, so I am thinking but not certain that all the lurkers are probably not even on the forums, but coming on to Revision3.com to download content but there are a lot of lurkers, you can tell by the number of people viewing forums, so that's nice. If any of you are watching, why not say hello right here?:)

For some reason, forums seem to inflate these stats even more. Especially for Revision 3, when I come on here, before I log in, I'm tallied as a guest. So, information like that probably hangs around a little longer than it should, and it seems like there's a bunch of guests when it really may just be people coming and logging in.

Plus, i think the mainsite and forums are integrated - so if your logged on/lurking there, it shows on the forums as well :)

I think people who have been banned before should look at themselves more than anything.

Ahhhhh.

I see. That makes more sense. I was thinking that there couldn't be several thousand users at once looking at this drivel :p

Ya that's how I did it. I donated so I could get my diggnation video version the second it comes out (and to support them of course). Just tonight I decided to check out the forums. I like how mellow it is here, so you'll be seeing me around more often.

So "Hi" officially, hehe.
