First, let me start by saying that I've never ordered anything from adagio, but the tea arrived on my doorstep just two days after ordering it online. I was really impressed by that. They even send an e-mail confirming that it was delivered.
Okay, now for the review. I was really wondering which blend to order since each had something I liked and something I didn't like, but I decided to go with the TEArex because I love orange anything and blood oranges are pretty awesome. Personally I'm not a big fan of extremely fruity teas, but I figured the blood orange would be a good exception.
When I opened up the tin, I got a big whiff of orange and pretty much just orange. There was a little bit of spice in the smell, and maybe a bit of berry, but mostly orange stood out.
After brewing for about three minutes and pouring myself a cup it started to smell like cranberry to me. Cranberry isn't in the ingredients that they show on the page for it, but there were little bits of what looked like apple and cranberry, so who knows.
The taste of the tea reminds me a lot of hot spiced apple cider if the heavy sweetness were taken out and orange and berry were mixed in. Perhaps I would also compare it to a cran-orange juice cocktail in the same manner. I really didn't get any tea flavor at all, which was a bit disappointing to me, since as I said, I'm not too big on overly fruity teas. It's also a tart tea, so it has a nice little punch with that like you might get with a cranberry juice.
Overall I'd say this would be a worthwhile tea to try out if you're big into fruity teas. I personally am not a huge fan because I feel there just isn't enough actual tea in it (if you look at the tea mix, you barely see any tea leaves at all). It feels pretty refreshing so I think it would probably work out well as an iced tea too. I hope this review is helpful to anyone looking to try the tea. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me. Thanks.
