I believe it's fiber into the local backbone... and I don't directly pay for it. I'm on my universities connection, so I pay out the ass for school. and they are limiting everyone to 35 Mb down and 8 Mb up, but no matter what anyone else is doing I can have a solid and fast connection.

So it changes with the different servers? I wondered what would happen if I changed servers. This smacks of crappiness.

I get pretty consistent speeds no matter what server/city I choose.
This sucks. I'm supposed to get the "fastest" speed available, but y'know
that's a big lie. Oh well.

haha, i wish that my connection was this fast at home! I'm at a hotel in York, PA, on my way to Washington D.C. tomorrow morning :D
edit -- holy cow, some of you folks have connection speeds that seriously make me jealous! Qwest screws me at home, and i am lucky to break 1000kbps with any amount of consistency.

You guys do realise the test involves the speed of your computer's reaction time to a ping. You will get different results with different computers, as I have with 3 computers from one DSL connection.

Surely though we're talking minor changes? I mean, mine is advertised as only 2Mb, but with 2Mb upload. And it isn't far off.
