My monitor just keeps randomly going black for a few seconds and then comes back on. We had a power failure, so I don't know if that would be the problem.

maybe bec. of abnormal voltage, you may try turning off for 5 mins. then try it again if problem still persist then you may start calling your best tech boy

umm, what kind of monitor is it CRT or LCD?

Our service drop was all ****ed up when an insulator got hit by a tree branch, and ever since then my monitor has been doing that every once in a while. Now it only does it in the wind... but my light in my room still flickers a tiny bit but not enough to make my monitor blink.
Was it ever doing it before the power outage .??
It may be a faulty connection from the PC, it may be loosing connection and getting ready to display ---"NO SIGNAL"-- Then turning back on ... i know someone who has a monitor who does that it keeps looking for a digital connection but he is using analog. don't know if that is any help!!
