I picked up an Alex Ross page at the con (Justice #12 page 20), and I plan on framing it. I have one or 2 places I plan on going, but I was interesting in seeing if anyone knew of any place that made frames that were made for comic book pages. I saw one place, but the size didn't appear to be correct.

I just went to a frame shop near my house where it was like $20 per page including the glass. So I would look for one of those.

Side note though. How much did you pay for it? Doesn't Alex Ross charge like over a $1,000 for a page?

If you paid that much for a page I would recommend getting some custom framing done to ensure the page will not degrade. I used to work in a framing store and there is a big difference between cheap framing supplies and conservation framing. If you paid a lot for the page you should make sure to pay for the right framing.

Yeah I'm probably going custom, but I wanted to see if there was already a service out there that took care of that type of stuff.

I paid 2k for it. It's a weird thing. When I bought it from the guy and I told him it was my first one. He told me that you'll probably buy more later. I told him no way I can see spending that much again. He said no this is probably juts the beginning. Strangely enough I don't even have this one on the wall, and I already want another. I guess its kind of like getting a tattoo cept its more money.

Yeah I have always wanted comic art, but that is a door I am scared to open. On the plus side I can only assume like in the case of other pieces of art it can be viewed as a beautiful investment.

To ensure your 2k investment retains its value, I beg you to please conservation frame this. Museum glass, acid free board, acid free mount, acid free mattes (if used), keep the glass off of the art with spacers. Make sure you tell them how much this is worth, that it is one of a kind and ask that the framing manager (or most experienced person) be the only one working on it. It may cost a lot to do all of this but at least it will make sure your investment is well shielded and in most cases will increase the value if you do re sell in the future.

If you spend 2000 on a piece of original art, get it custom framed, and go top of the line. Get museum glass to decrease fading, and all the best boards. I myself like the floating art look, but you have it your way. Whered you get it, nycc?

I've been eye balling some ryan ottley art,
How much of a difference does the museum glass make?
what's the price point?

It's a decent amount more, but it is worth it, especially if the art has a wash.

Thank you for the info. I'm taking it to a place where I bought other art from, on Friday. They will probably charge me an arm and a leg, but maybe I'll get lucky.

I was hoping that there was already a company that was dedicated to making comic page frames. I guess its a niche collection.

For anyone interested in the page itself, this is the on I bought. Interestingly enough I paid a lot less then what its selling for on the website.

Thanx. I'm having it framed now by a custom framer that is using conservation matting and glass.

I went on the Alex Ross website where they sell pages and this one was still listed for sale. I guess they take time to update things after cons. The most intersting part about that is they have it listed for $3500, and I only paid $2000. That makes me much happier about my purchase :)
