So, ATI decided not to include ShaderModel (SM) 3.0 in its "X100" cards. Why? I don't know. I know that my ATI Radeon X800 GTO AGP with an R430 core (not R420 as it should be and as most are) can handle SM 3.0. So, my question: Will ATI later include SM 3.0 in these series of cards?

Also, why can I never find the amount of pixel pipelines on ATI's X1000 series cards? What? They don't have pixel pipelines?

All x1000 series cards have sm 3.0 support yours does not but it's not an x100 series card.
The X800 GTO only has 12 pipelines and x100 series cards have pixel threads an x1300 has 128 pixel threads and an x1950 has 512.
Ati won't support sm 3.0 in that line of card ever it theoretically could but the performance would be unsatisfactory.

*edit* x1000 not x100

okay, i assume you meant to say x1000 whenever you said x100, because that really confused me there. :P

however, i get what you're saying. although, the one thing that keep me from buying an ati radeon x1000 series card was the fact that i could never find out how many pixel "pipelines" they had. :(

i guess i should've went with the x1000 series instead of the x100 series; or, maybe, i should've just stuck with nvidia.

i can't believe i spent ~$100 on a card that doesn't support shader model 3.0. i guess i really got screwed, eh? although, the x800 gto is a really nice card. especially mine. it's a sapphire, so it has the 1.6ns gddr3. also, it came stock with an r430 core and 16 pipes; but, without sm 3.0, i guess it's useless now. :\

Yah I don't know that there are many games with sm 3 support currently. Was there a paticular game you where hoping to use it for? Either way ATI was slow to full sm 3.0 support from the beginning while nVidia spear headed implementaion really.

Hey nothing wrong with planning ahead, more people should.

nvidia owns gaming, ati owns integrated shit. ATi just waits to see what nvidia does, then copies it. However amd bought them so maybe amd+ati will be better than amd+nforce cuz its all the same company.
