View Full Version : I'm so sick of twitter spam

Does anyone else find this "twitter.com/____" spam annoying? It was fine when they plugged it in at the end of the show but when Kevin plugs it in in the beginning and in any twitter related story, it really gets on my nerves. I'm on the verge of unsubscribing the feed and deliberately logging into twitter to unfollow them.
Anyone else feel the same way?

Does it bother me? Not in the slightest, it's funny how they're competing for the followers. Chillax.

I could care less whether they do it at the beginning, end, or every 5 minutes. Ok, every 5 minutes might get annoying, but as it is now it doesn't bother me at all.

I'm a big fan of Twitter and I have a lot of fun with it. But, as Twitterati go, @KevinRose is really pretty boring. @AlexAlbrecht is more interesting to follow. But, there are half a dozen other peeps that way more interesting and funny tweets.

oh okay. so maybe it's not a big deal for people who actually use twitter. I only made my twitter account to help them with the follower count but I dont actually use it.
I just find it ridiculous how their twitter url has become their introduction name instead of just a simple plug in the beginning/end. Nothing wrong with "follow me at ___".
But saying "I'm twitter.com/___" is just as bad as making a forum username that is a website address to try and get hits.

I can see where you're coming from. If it becomes the weekly welcome it will definitely get old, but where it is right now with the past couple weeks it doesn't bother me too much.
Also agree that @kevinrose tweets are usually on the boring side.

weird. I unfollowed alex ages ago because all he tweeted was what he was gonna eat. Kevin at least posts links that are interesting (to me).

I actually find it funny when they do that, cause I will never be following either one of them. I don't need to hear how they are going to eat at some place half way across the country from me. Kevin posts some interesting things every once and a while, but not enough to warrent following.

Srsly? Wow, I couldn't really care less tbh! & it's pretty obvious the whole thing's a bit of a joke between them now anyways.

Following Ashton and Demi's tweets leads me to believe that as a celeb you cannot go two days without having to clarify a tabloid's quote-taken-out-of-context.
That sucks. Tabloids need to take a chill pill (and by saying they need to take a pill I am not condoning drug usage. I want everyone to know that drugs are bad and ...wait...I'm not a celeb. Take all the drugs you want!!!...in moderation of course).

Kevin is starting to turn into Jason Calacanis
If they keep on with the "Hi, my name is twitter.com/kevinrose" thing then I will think Diggnation has jumped the shark.
Kevin, please dont turn into the douche Jason Calacanis is...

I guess it can be annoying for people who don't have it but for those who do its good to hear. I don't have many followers yet but when I do get some I'll like to talk about it and make use of it's purpose.

The twitter talk will only grow. Kevin revealed that he had invested in Twitter in this video (17:35) (http://vimeo.com/3934635) . So of course he will always be talking about it and encourage people to buy the premium accounts (because it's money in his pockets).

Well - I think you have to bear in mind all of these types of shows are hosted by people in tech media, not necessarily people in tech, which can be a totally different thing.
These are people interested in tech which can get them more exposure and enhance their tech-related lives, if I were to put it bluntly.
Social networking is what drives the interest of these guys - and Twitter is a pivotal part of that at the moment. If you like listening what these guys have to say, you have to take Twitter as part of that deal, because it's the crux of what these guys are talking about, is making their business, etc.
I have zero interest in it beyond what is already covered in some headline tech news sites, which is why I unsubscribed from Diggnation a long time ago.
@ub3rgeek: Calacanis perhaps only appears as a douche to you because he's extremely open about exactly what he is.

Strange...I love hearing about what Alex Albrecht is eating. Makes me nostalgic about the days of CAC. *Tear*

huh? So, it's not annoying to hear it week after week, even though you are using Twitter and have already decided whether to follow them or not?
