Text America will be closing all free accounts before this year is over so I was wondering if anyone knew of another place that allows you to upload pics with your cell phone and that is free. I checked out Flickr, but I want to see all my options before I decide. Any suggestions?

Filckr will accept a photo via pix messege, process it and forward to any number of blogging services. You could easily create a photoblog with blogger, wordpress or whatever and forward pictures to it from flickr. It's quite automatic once you set it up and it's fairly minimal and non-intrusive with ads. In fact, I don't think blogger or flickr have any ads at all by default.

Thanks. I didn't know that. I just browsed around real quick after signing up. I just remembered about Google's Picasa. I think I would trust Google more than Yahoo. I'll have to see if they do phone uploading though.

Well, Flickr is merely owned by Yahoo. It was bought by Yahoo after it established. So it was really developed separately, not by Yahoo. The web service attached to Picasa is really a clone of Flickr. Picasa is a nice bit of free software, but Flickr's online photo sharing is superior to Picasa's.
You can use Flickr as a back-end to send phone pics to number of blogging services not at all associated with Yahoo including Google's Blogger service.
Anyhow, do what you like... that's my 2 hundredths...
P.S. Most online photo services are ad sponsored and hopelessly intrusive. Some Jack-hole on Myspace told my sister to use this sevice called Ringo. She gave them my Email to invite me to see her pics. Now they spam me without mercy.
Many photo sharing services also work like Youtube where you surrender the rights to your photos when you upload. With Flickr you adopt a Creative Commons license that keeps you in control of your images.

Use Flickr. I used regular Flickr for 4 months and bought a Flickr pro account in June. Now I have another year of Flickr pro (that's right, two years. I love it that much).
Flickr basic is better now, 100mb instead of 20mb... I hated 20mb. I'm glad I use Flickr pro too, unlimited uploaded over 2GB upload.

I use Flickr, and love it. But another EXTREMELY similar service to Flickr, for the Yahoo haters, is Zooomr (www.zooomr.com) (three O's). I like them both, but, in the end Flickr won my money :D

Yes, I remember when they were not owned by Yahoo. I just have this feeling Yahoo's going to change things around. I know Picasa is not as good as Flickr though.
Kowgod, Zoomr has some pretty interesting features. I'll have to take a test run of my choices and see which I feel most comfortable with.

On what do you base your feelings? There has to be something other than mere brand loyalty or strange mistrust of Yahoo.
What's your problem with Yahoo anyway? They've owned Flickr for more than a year and it hasn't changed.
Do you have a clairvoyance that others lack?
I think you're allowing prejudice to keep you away from a great service.
My biggest fear isn't that Flickr will be changed by Yahoo, but that it might evaporate. Other than the yearly subscription to the Pro service (that I recommend BTW), I don't see how they make money. They do sell prints, maybe they make money on that.

Usually when companies aquire sites, they tend to change things around. It is pretty common. And yes, I don't trust Yahoo. Look at their privacy policy for their free mail service. I am entitled to my opinions about certain companies.

You are entitled to your opinions.
However, you did ask for other opinions. Now you have one. :)

Thanks. Yes, I did ask for other opinions. You are right. Sorry if I got defensive. There were a few bad posts with extremely bad mannered people online from two forums and my annoyance leaked on here.

It's okay, I can be sorta gruff. It's part of my professoral mystique.

I used Nakama.ca (http://nakama.ca/) before I switched to a Crackberry. The accept photos and video, forward to several blog services, and offer a service where they call you back after an upload so you can add a voice tag.
