Hi,

I just started my own podcast. I was wondering if maybe anyone at revision3 or anyone else can suggest a way of automating the process of it making the video in both an HD 720p version and 480p iPhone version. I use final cut to edit them from 1080p original footage. I just want to save my self some time in automating it so I can walk away and it will just be done when i get back.

Also if you can tell me what the perfect settings ....

1.) Which thing should i use to export with? Quicktime exporter? Compressor? I'm currently using Quicktime exporter

2.) What are the optimal settings i can set to get optimal video quality to file size as well as making it so that the 720p video when uploaded to youtube doesn't act crazy and become out of sync. currently saving it in h.264 with AAC audio in a MOV container with Quicktime is the only way i have got it to work.

3.) How do i put chapters into my video podcasts? Do i use markers or dvd chapter markers in final cut pro? I really would love to just have it work because the third party apps i have seen to do it suck really bad.

Thanks

This might be a better subject for something like a Systm or Tekzilla episode.

Sounds like you're on a Mac. I looked for the same automation thing for my (defunct) podcast a few years back. Some programs were coming close back then, but I haven't checked recently. I'd check versiontracker.com.

Or else, either try Automator (in your applications folder) Or search for Applescripts. And if you find an answer, let us know (or PM me) Cause I'm gonna start a new cast and would love to find out what you find out.

Best of Luck.

1. I use compressor to automate HD,iPod,mp3 in one click, I just export a master HD file (apple intermediate) from FCP and then drag it to a droplet exported by compressor. For a free alternative I bet you could use automater and quicktime export.

2. Personaly I do H264 1280x720 2100Kbps video, 128Kbps audio. This seems to work well (I think rev3 is 2100?). For iPod I just use the ipod preset, although the files are pretty big - I may revise that.

3. No idea.
