Loved the fishing bird story.

BTW, Hippy, you bend nails with the gloves.

Not the best. Dissapointed by the stale beer at the start.

Overall, an eh episode....

I'm no brewmaster but have a lot of experience with different types of alcohol, and especially beer.

The best by date is mostly a marketing ploy. notice how it always says best by and not expire. The taste will be guaranteed "best" by that date but is still good for a long time after. Draft beer, like you would find at a bar on tap, goes bad the quickest but is good up to 45 days. And depending on how you store the beer i.e. cool, dry, place out of direct light it can be good from 6 months to 2 years depending on the situation. Another thing is warm beer... As long as it doesn't cycle between hot, warm, cool, and cold temps a lot it is perfectly fine to store it outside of the fridge (of course put it in when you want to drink it as it does taste better cold) but thats why you see stores stacking it on the floor outside of the freezer section, and the trucks it comes in on are not the refridgerated ones.

anyways the point is, that beer they had was most likely still good... unless it was stored out of the box it came in, on a window sill, during fluctuating summer hot and winter cold days... ever since they received it in the mail.

So you're saying the taste they got is most likely the real taste of the beer, which is the "rancid butter" taste? Sounds delightful.

This episode didn't really stand out to me. I zoned out while watching it. The bird story was pretty cool though.

I'm seeing too much repetition with Diggnation and Diggreel. (bird was on both this week) They should really try to limit that.

Yea, assuming they didn't heat cycle it too much, They probably got a fairly accurate taste of what the beer tasted like. It could just be their minds giving them that opinion though. notice how I think it wasn't till after they found the date that they thought it tasted like rancid butter. Alex even kinda liked it at first. Sometimes the first taste is a little different in some beers too... There's this beer I've been into lately called, Blue Tongue (from the land down under, if you can look it up... it's a a little expensive to import but worth it) It has a distinctive bitter taste, but only on the first drink. other than that it is smoooooth.

High Diggnation isn't nearly as funny as Drunk Diggnation.

Good episode, but I was annoyed about the beer thing at the beginning. I felt really bad for Ben. He spent time and money trying to get this beer to the guys, and then they totally forget about it for 6 months, and then basically insult the taste of the beer on the show. Not cool.

Ben, you can send me beer anytime. And I will drink it right away! In copious amounts! :D

Alex, if it makes you feel any better, the swallowing spiders thing is an urban legeng.

I agree, I was a bit disappointed that they seemed to dog the beer and not dog Prager (or was it Hippie) for not getting it to them sooner. I would have been all over Prager for ruining a possibly great beer.

But, I also agree that a 2 month span from the "best by" date would only mean a discerning taste bud would realize the difference.

Yea that was my first feeling too... Strange how we all felt sympathy for the guy, such a wasted effort... we are all a bunch of softies lol

... I wanted to give the Diggnation guys a case of that blue tongue to try, especially now that I heard they wont be importing it anymore to the States... but if they would just waste it like that, I'd rather give a $50-70 case of beer to someone else. Pending I could find some more since I only have 2 cases left and I'm saving those for my B-day!!!

No, the first taste they got was whatever they decided it would be based on paranoia over it possibly being skunky.
Ive had Innis and Gunn, its amazing beer, like nothing Ive ever tasted before and I really wish they would have given it a real shot instead of dismissing it based on paranoia over an expiry date. Its beer, not milk ffs.
