This has probably been answered in another thread but I didn't see it. Is the Austin show going to be all ages or 21 and older? They said all ages on Diggnation and 21 and older on the Digg townhall.

By the way they sounded on the townhall, it sounded like it was just a mistake on Diggnation to say all ages because they eventually blamed in on Prager. Unfortunately, seems like it will be another 21+

Words cannot express how incredibly disappointed I am with this age limit of 21+ for the live show in Austin for SXSW, especially after being put under the original pretense that it was for all ages. Even though I am 21, my girlfriend (and fellow fan of Diggnation) is only 19 and we were making big plans on driving to Austin since this will probably be the last time Alex and Kevin come to Texas for a while (she lives in Houston while I live in Dallas). I say “were” because it looks like those plans will not come to fruition now. For the past years that I've watched Diggnation (since episode 1) and seen announcements about the live shows, I always got miffed about the 21+ age limit imposed at some venues even though it was impossible for me to go because of the vast distance anyway. Now it seems impossible yet again for I will not be able to enjoy a live show that I can actually attend because my significant-other as well as other friends in Austin wanting to attend are considered "under age" yet over 18 and considered adults.
Obviously the reason for the imposed age limit of 21+ is for alcohol control (there will probably be a bar and also drinking involved…hey, it's Diggnation after all), but why not implement some sort of system where if a person attending is under 21, then they get large black X's marked on the back of their hands in permanent marker so that the bartenders know not to sell alcoholic beverages to them? I’m sure it’s not that hard to give bartenders and waiters instructions for one night not to sell any alcohol to anyone with black X’s on their hands, nor will it be hard for the bartenders and waiters to comprehend these instructions. I've seen this procedure implemented at numerous clubs and social events in bars and it seems to work fairly well. If the question comes down to man-power to do this, then I'm quite positive people will likely volunteer for this type of crowd-control duty. I'll be happy to do it myself, and I will be more than happy to send the Diggnation/Revision3 team my contact information to help organize an ID-checking and marking team so that people enter into the venue in an organized and safe manner.
This is the point I’m trying to make here: there are plenty of fans that are old enough to vote or have a license to carry a gun, but at the same time cannot attend the live show of one of their favorite internet-television programs because they are still considered “under age.” I hope this Diggnation live-show trend somehow gets changed for future shows, even if I’m still unable to attend, because I don’t agree seeing such a loyal fanbase treated so unfairly because of their youth.

I ran into a similar problem when they came to NYC. They said it was an 18+ event so my friend and I headed to the venue. When we got there, they checked ALL IDs, gave wrist bands to the 21+. When we started going in, the put all the 21- aside and only let the 21+ in. However, I saw a handful of under 21 people drinking because they had gone with friends who could legally buy alcohol. There is no way to prevent people from doing that.
I'm sure Revision 3 isn't trying to piss of fans and sometimes compromises have to be made. I am sure that if it were an all ages venue, alcohol might be limited and that would piss off those who are legally allowed to drink Diggnation live shows have been heavily associated with alcohol. The opposite can also be said and we have seen this plenty of times. Those under 21 get mad because they can't go attend a live event because of a number.

Sponsors of these live events prefer venues that serve alcohol because they're less expensive than venues that don't. the choice is 21+ only venues or tickets for $20 a head. Now, that wouldn't piss fanboys off. I'd happily pay as much as $50 to see kKvin and Alex and not have the discomfort of one of these 21+ venues.
These live events just wouldn't happen without corporate sponsorship. Prager does a fantastic job lining up sponsors like Virgin, Miller and Microsoft for these events. Diggnation is an adults only entertainment activity and drinking is part of the experience. That fact that the law a biased against adults who are 19, 91 and 20 years old is a shame. But, it not something the Revision 3 has control over.
All the same, I think that attending a live diggnation is a defining event for a diggnation fan. The live diggnations are pound-per-pound better than non-live version. That is, when the sounds works out. I think that Kevin and Alex should do every show live. It's sad that fans under the age of 21 are barred from experiencing it.

Well it makes me kinda sad I was looking forward to driving to Austin that weekend and seeing Diggnation since I've always wanted to attend a live show but I'm only 20 so I guess I luck out. It really sucks that the unwritten policy is if you can't drink you can't go to Diggnation Live Shows. Btw if their were a head charge of 20 I'd pay it.

That does suck, but look at it this way: By the next time they come to Texas, you'll probably be old enough to attend no matter what! ;)

Well that's good. It looks like it is going to be all ages after all.

I'm incredibly confused as to the age limit now. Episode 191 Kev/Alex tout that there is no age limit for the live show on the 14th, then the Digg Town Hall on Feb. 26 they said that it was 21+, now on the latest episode of Diggnation (episode 192) they once again state that the live show is open to ALL AGES. Can we have some solid clarification rather than this flip-flopping between age groups?

Rev3 blogpost says all ages, and that's nicely displayed on revision3.com's home page. I'd guess that's correct.

And here is where there's increased liability for them. We're not debating what the drinking age should be because if you can go to war, you should be able to drink, but there is a law in place. And people circumnavigating the law and getting into an accident can point the blame to Diggnation for not finding another way to enforce the law. Like not having anyone under 21. Sure, it sucks, but all of us over 21 also had to wait until it was legal for us to do certain things. Petition for the law to change rather than for Diggnation to take on the liability.

How about they just make them all 21 and over. Last taping I went to had a young kid in the audience. I'm pretty sure many of us had an uncomfortable feeling when one of the stories was gummy lighthouses that looked like penises, and a kid who was maybe 5 was sitting there watching and listening to all of this. But if they made it 18 and over, the teens would complain. If they make it 16 and over, the 15 and under would complain.
If there's alcohol, it should be 21+, and if no alcohol, 18+ due to the adult subject-matter, if not just keeping it 21+ so there's no confusion.

Prager in another thread has said that they typicly tape two episodes in a session. One new (the first episode), and an evergreen (always ready to air) episode.

He was asking about the age limit, not how many episodes are taped at a time.

So how early does one need to start lining up to be in the front? Does anyone know?
