I've noticed a lack of activity in the forum so I figured I'd add a random review for anyone that cares. Anyway, I recently acquired some of the Thai Tea blend from Teavana, actually purchased from one of their stores (I actually found out the store existed near me thanks to BBB).
First off, if you're getting this and expecting(like I did) to get the orange stuff that you find at your local thai restaurant, you're in for a surprise. The color is actually a pleasant light brown that looks kind of like a light coffee and does not taste like the restaurant stuff. Opening the tin you can immediately smell a strong flavoring of coconut and vanilla. You can tell right from the smell that it's going to be a sweet flavor. After brewing I add some milk along with a couple squirts of honey, because like at the restaurants, I like it to be rich and smooth. Again, the coconut and vanilla are the real standout flavors in this tea. I'm actually not a big fan of coconut on its own, but in this blend it works perfectly with the rest of the smooth flavor. It's a fairly rich tea that reminds me a little bit of coffee, but it's not actually as strong as I expected. I would compare this to maybe a more mellowed out chai without all the spice. It has that heavy body without the tons of flavors. Since it's a black tea you can make it a little stronger by either adding more of the tea to the pot or brewing past the three minute suggested brew time, but I find that after 4 or five minutes you really start to get into bitter territory, so I would suggest the former over the latter.
Even though the tea isn't what I expected, it's still a great blend and I would really recommend it to anyone looking for a rich tea and especially if you're looking for something along the lines of a chai but don't want to just pick up another chai. Teavana is a little expensive, but everything I've tried from there has been of an exceptional quality. If you have a store near you, I would really suggest checking it out especially because they usually have a wide assortment of samples around the shop.
If you want to order it online, it can be found here:
