Should you enlist in the Halo Wars? Is the Legend of Chun Li a Van Damme-as-Guile level abomination of cinema? Guess who the directors are for Green Hornet and Clue now! Plus, an Oscar wager is paid!

Watch and Download the Episode Here (http://revision3.com/trs/nashout/)

Watching the episode now.
I'm just at the breakfast bit and am slightly amazed at Dan making pancakes out of a packet mix.
Funny episode BTW, I should arange holywood wages with for my friends (maybe even on my podcast, but I don't want to get sued :)

Intro: funny when Dan comes through the door. Made me laugh
The green hornet will be exciting. I loved Eternal Sunshine... , so I think it will be a weird/different movie, and great at the same time
You must learn to cook pancakes, Dan. Alexs egg looked good

The opening was very funny, does that mean Kill Bill Vol.2 next week, maybe a part wth Pai Mei?

About the DLC unlocking stuff that could be had by just playing the game is fine by me, however I believe in fighting games competetion allowable characters should always be unlocked at the start (ie. SF4 Fei Long or Cammy).

For DLC that adds the developers "true ending" I do not have a problem with also. Because 5 years ago, devs still had dead lines, had to cut stuff, and there would be no way to get this stuff. Now they can finish content that had to be cut after the intial release and I can get more of a game I enjoyed later on.

Breakfast is not only my favorite meal to eat. It's also my favorite meal to make. Yes, Dan did seem a little clueless with the pancakes. But, would the Iron Chef himself been as entertaining? Seeing their cooking segments make me nostalgic for CAC.

Man, that is just too crazy. Alex and Jeff totally let me down during the SF movie review. That movie was so nasty. I enjoyed it because I also had very low expectations (and the Nash character), but there were really no fun things in the movie. Like the whole Vega fight in the Vega-esque setting, it didn't really get to me at all. Probably because Vega looked even worse in this movie than he did in the older one. I don't know who thinks the Spanish must be dark and have black hair. Spanish people are from Spain, not from Latin America. Anyway, I recently saw the old SF movie and thought it was, like Dan (my boy) said, on par with this new one. Although I do like the old one's tone better. That movie at least knew it was bad. This one thinks it's awesome. Which makes everyone laughable like Dan said, because they're trying to be something they're not.

Wow, I sort of rambled there. I did like the movie though. Because it was so bad, it's funny. VERY close to being just bad though. Thank God for Nash. Thank God for you.

I feel Dan's pain when making his pancakes. But I think I found his answer...PANCAKES IN A CAN!

http://www.strangenewproducts.com/uploaded_images/batter-blaster-722705.jpg

I saw this in my local grocery store and I did a double take. It's pancake mix....in an aerosol can! Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the future.

Edit: As I was voting for the anniversary show, I kept thinking how the logo looked really familiar to me. Then it hit me...Wrestlemania 23!

Dan has officially convinced me that I need to improve my skills in SFIV. I'm terrible at it, but love playing with my friends.

Lets say it together:

IF DAN CAN DO IT, SO CAN WE!

I think the problem with the Skate 2 style DLC is that you're being charged for content you already own. It's one thing for a company to provide you a short-cut, but what happens when they start balancing their games in a way that encourage more people to buy the unlocks.

To borrow your analogy, there's the same amount of carrot, they're just making the stick longer and offering to sell you another on the side.

There is nothing benevolent about these companies offering to sell you unlocks, these things use to be available for free. up down up down left right left right a b a b

I think Penny-Arcade had this pretty well summed up in a strip a few years ago: http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2006/11/15/

That's what I came here to say immediately after watching the discussion at the end. Cheats were built into the game free of charge for decades before this crap started. To hear anyone applaud the option of paying to unlock parts of a game is ludicrous to me, given that a more favorable option for the customer has been around for almost the entire (albeit short) history of gaming. This is 100% a money grab. The company has the option of pleasing both groups of its customers by going with the traditional method. Instead, it charges one group extra to allow them to enjoy the game the way they want to play it.

As for other kinds of DLC, a lot of people don't seem to understand that companies already have enough incentives to support their products even without charging $10 for a few maps (not to mention splintering their base into regular and premium users in the process). One incentive is to keep people playing the games instead of selling their used copy, potentially taking away a retail sale. A side effect of that is that keeping someone playing for a long time is a sign to their friends that it might be worth the money. Also, people are more likely to drop $50+ for your games (and recommend your products to friends) if you have a track record of supporting them long after their release, like Valve. Speaking of Valve, those guys get it (http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=22378). Every game developer and/or publisher needs to take at least a few pages out of Valve's playbook.

The breakfast segment was hilarious. Mainly because I have been through those experiences not being sure what I was doing. Best thing I have learned here in college :D

Also, I have enjoyed Michel Gondry's more recent films including The Science of Sleep, Be Kind Rewind and of course Eternal Sunshine, so I am looking forward to The Green Hornet being directed.

Where did Dan get that shirt? It is AMAZING!

I've got to ask, how many takes did it get you to get that intro sorted? All I could see with each line was 3 rad dudes trying very hard not to laugh at what is possibly the funniest one to date.

I'm now going to buy an arcade stick just so I can jump through my roomate's door screaming before we fire up SF4

Is there a problem with the word afraid? Is afeared a regional dialect thing, or is it trendy or something? I don't really understand the recent proliferation of it's use on the show, I don't recall ever hearing it until the last couple months from you guys.

I actually got "afeared" from Shakespeare (specifically, Caliban from the Tempest). I suspect the guys picked it up from me, but I don't want to speak for them. It is a pretty fun word to say :)

Just wanted to say one thing. You guys mentioned skate 2 and everyone being fired from the studio (Blackbox). Some of the people lost their jobs(no one prominant) and they are just relocating to the main Vancouver studio. I think they will still be releasing games under the Blackbox label, and as far as I know Blackbox is working on Skate 3 and also the new Need for Speed (NFS:Shift)

Hi. Great show guys.

My 5 cents on paying for content.

If they release new content to develop a story in a game that's really cool.

If they enable you by giving you the choice to get all the characters you need to have fun with your friends that good as well.

But they can't throw of the game mechanics so the challenge and strife disappears.

I know there are people with jobs and a life that just want to kick there friends as at a fighting game or guitar hero and don't have the time to unlock everything.

And we also have the category in the other corner that have the time to play a lot and need the challenge.

My proposal is to enable songs and characters for paying customers for local play. So you could use them with your friends. But they won't work online.

Keep up the good work guys.

Concerning the breakfast, was there bacon? How can you have breakfast and not have bacon? Even with Jeff training for the marathon, it is only 80 calories for 2 pieces.

And watching the ordeal with Dan, I have never had the desire to cook someone pancakes or waffles so much. It was like watching Anakin try and cook. The kid can bake, but he sucks at cooking.

Thanks for show!

dan cooking was amazing segment!!! you know you can take like rudimentary cooking classes at most community colleges, doesn't really cost much and you'll find out how fun it is to cook. think of it like, creating something beautiful, sure it'll take a coupla tries to get it beautiful but it'll be just that much more amazing.

btw, biscuits and gravy? wth? sounds gross.

Great episode! I have a burning morbid curiousity to see ST:TLOCL, but due to lack of funds, I'll wait until DVD. BTW, the pronunciation of Kreuk, rhymes with Luke.

I've never had the pleasure of trying choco-chip pancakes, but I'd imagine they'd be mighty tasty! I can't help but think that some of that fried-egg/toast caught some of Alex's sneeze. As long as it tasted okay, I guess...

Also, I noticed Jeff was guilty of a common mistake of my own: I tend to say Seth Green when I actually mean Seth Rogan. ;)

First time poster! From what I played of the Halo Wars demo it seems pretty fun. I agree that the most amazing thing is how much it feels like Halo. I agree with you guys in that it just doesn't feel right with a controller though. Which reminds me, are you guys planning on reviewing Dawn of War II?

Also nice to "see" the new Steve (or "Mike" if you will), and that he seems to be learning the ropes from elder-Steve.

Box pancakes are very difficult to make for someone like Dan, but if he was making Wing Chun pancakes, then it would have been easy for him.

I prefer sausage gravy. I love the bacon, but the flavor is a little monotone. Bacon always goes good when pair with something else, like horseradish. Sausage has another layer of flavor that goes good in the gravy.

P.S. I'm surprised that DannyT did find the "Shake 'n Pour" pancakes at the grocery store.

I posted in the other thread about this episode too: I'll just paste the meats n vegies of it.

I just finished the latest episode today in the car. It was informative, you guys talked a bit longer on each subject, you seemed more relaxed, there was more passion in the discussions, and you even had an informal moment when you did the whole breakfast thing (gratz Jeff) with Dan cooking (so funny) . . . it was an awesome episode. It had a little bit of everything, not too little, and not too much - just enough to want more . . . and watching the episode I was smiling for damn near the entire time and laughing outloud when Dan was contemplating how much water if he used the whole box of mix . . . this last episode had an abundance of that TRS charm we all know and love.

I think there's been a failure in translation

'Biscuits' are what Australians call cookies. He thinks you put gravy on your Chips Ahoy. BTW, Australia has far superior cookies, more variety, more creative ingredients, more common. However, America has the same difference for donuts, although Aussies love plain donuts, you won't find that much donut variety in Aus.
