I'm using a Hotmail (now Windows Live Mail) account. Recently I deleted (permanently) some slanderous emails. Now I need to recover those emails to be presented as evidence in a criminal case. I've contacted Windows Live Support in every way I can.

Anyone here can offer me any help/advice?

Use gmail, you never have to delete any email as your space is constantly increase.

Get your attorney to contact hotmail.

Sadly my friend, I think they are just lost. Microsoft really has no interest in making a recovery attempt for emails that you deleted.

You can try having a lawyer contact them, but chances are even if they did get a tech to look for your emails and try to recover them, assuming that they can still be recovered, it may be too late as the hard drive may have new data that has taken over your old emails on the hard drive.

I'm no attorney, but were the emails only written to you? If so, then they probably wouldn't have been much use in court anyway because usually slander has to be directed at others who know you, so as to make you look bad in the other people's eyes.

If they were also written to others who you know, maybe see if they kept a copy.

Take a news camera man/woman along.
