I have come to a roadblock. The last couple movies I watched were blockbuster hits that were very disappointing. Being a little on the young side still, I missed out on alot of great movies in the past decade or two.
I recently watched:
October Sky
Good Will Hunting
A Beautiful Mind
Con Air
I absolutely loved each of these movies. I have since been looking for other great movies I may have missed out on. Suggestions? (IMdB suggests The Notebook. Seriously?)

Have you watched The Notebook before being down on it?

Anytime I think Con Air, I usually think The Rock (and vice-versa)

Thanks! Unfortunately, I've seen all of these, with the exception of Last of The Mohicans so I'll be sure to check that one out. Eastern promises was great for sure.
As for the above comment, I have seen the Rock many a time also, but thanks!

Thanks! Keep the suggestions coming if you think of anything.

I recommend Charade with Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn. Its a murder mystery with a sense of humor. Its in my top 13 movies of all time.
I would also recommend a Fistful of Dollars. Its the first in the Spaghetti Westerns Trilogy. Frankly I think it is a ton better than the Good, the Bad and the Ugly.
Swingers is a fun movie. Its funny and fun to watch. Though there is one seen that always makes me cringe, but in a funny way.

The original Wicker Man is a classic. House of Games is an old David Mamet gem, as is The Spanish Prisoner.

Interesting question, as it seems the OP has seen many a movie and prolly wants something obscure but good.
Try picking up some DVDs of things that you don't immediately think of like:
Eddie Izzard: Dress To Kill
The Day After Trinity (Oppenheimer documentary)
Ayn Rand: A Sense of Life
Or go get the originals of movies you may not have known were remakes like:
Bedazzled
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (Original = Bedtime Story)
The Talented Mr. Ripley (Original = Purple Noon)
Seven (Some say that the movie The Crimson Rivers is a remake)
Reservoir Dogs (Original = The taking of Pelham One, Two,Three)(skeptic)

OK, obscure (and some not so obscure)...
Romper Stomper (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0105275/)
Malcolm (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0091464/) (quirky, +10 points if you find it :) ... though it does go on TV occassionally)
Proof (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0102721/) (no, not Gwyneth Paltrow ... Russel Crowe and Hugo Weaving).
Perfume: The Story of a Murderer (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0396171/)
The Cat's Meow (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0266391/)
The 13th Floor (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0139809/)
Scent of a Woman (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0105323/)
Heat (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0113277/)
The Score (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0227445/)

When it came out people said it was a copy of City On Fire.

In all honesty.. some of these movies I probably won't give a chance.
The most recent post about watching originals of my favorites is a great idea and i will begin scrounging for originals and use your list as a great guide.
Some of these other movies may be a little TOO old for me. I know you can't judge quality by date, but I just struggle with keeping interested in these movies.
The thing is, the concept of Good Will Hunting, Rounders and A Beautiful Mind are that they intrigue me the entire movie. Zodiac came close to doing the same for me.

Spot on recommendations.

Blade Runner
Blazing Saddles
Dr. Strangelove
Pretty much any movie on this list is probably worth at least checking out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Film_Registry

You are asking for recommendations, yet have either seen and loved, or seen and hated 90% of the suggestions here. Thats quite a few movies, many of them not exactly mainstream.
How about you suggest some movies. It seems that your interests are pretty much like everyone else here. Can you suggest some that others might not have seen that you really enjoyed??

I'm sorry. I may have forgotten to mention the fact that I watch ALOT of movies.
I was specifically looking for older movies that I haven't seen, and I have come to realize that I have actually seen most of them.
As far as suggestions, beyond what is already posted here.. I can't actually think of many.
I have a horrible memory for things like this at any given time.
Reservoir Dogs
Pulp Fiction
The Last Castle
Shawshank Redemption
Die Hard (any and all)
Armageddon
Whole Nine Yards
John Q
Rounders

Okay, I had to comment. I love Die Hard, all of them. They are too fantastic.
I had never cried at a movie before, and then I saw Armageddon. Granted I was preggers and well, at that point I was crying at Sprint phone commercials, but it will always have a special place in my heart for that.
And I have never seen John Q. I have worked in healthcare for *cough* years and though it intrigued me I was paranoid to see it because I might feel guilty or something even though I know it is fiction. Is it that bad?

No. Not at all. Well.. it's genius. A great, yet touching, movie.
I don't think you'd cry, but I think you might see the flaw in the U.S. health care system.
I recommend you watch it.

So I'm going to try and pull some random ones you may or may not have seen.
Casablanca: saw in a film class and really enjoyed.
Maltese Falcon: pretty good noir film.
The Star Trek films
Evil Dead 1 & 2 and Army of Darkness
Dead Alive: early Peter Jackson & still quote it today
Psycho: another like Casa and want to watch other Hitchcock films myself
Guide to Recognizing your Saints
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang
Chaplin
Identity (w/ John Cusack)
Really I'd follow Dan on twitter or listen to /filmcast because I get so many movie suggestions I'd never heard of and have been surprised. Also, do you have Netflix? The suggestions I get from there have been pretty decent ones. I've also watched older films by directors, actors or writers that I enjoy. I was on a huge Robert Downey Jr. viewing last year and found some really great ones. Also, lists on the internet of greatest films, highest grossing, worst or whatever you fancy. Just some general tips on getting movie suggestions.

The ones in the above Quote are the ones I will attempt to see because I have not seen them, but they sound interesting. I live in Canada unfortunately, which means I don't get Netflix (Zip.ca is crap) and I can't follow Dan with SMS updates, which means I have to constantly check twitter (which, due to my online work, is just too many pages to check constantly)
My RA here at college has Identity and said I could borrow it just last night, I guess I'll have to since I loved every other movie on her shelf too.

Swingers is a fun movie. Its funny and fun to watch. Though there is one seen that always makes me cringe, but in a funny way.
when he calls the girl from the bar and leaves her like 10 messages??
that scene makes me cringe too
