So Watchmen was my first Comic/GN since GI Joe as a kid. I really enjoyed reading it before the movie came out. So i find myself wanting more, i been wanting to get into these for a long time. So any suggestions ? Im already starting to wade into ifanboy, but i figured since this is really my Rev3 home and its a topic of the show, someone might have a suggestion where to go next.

Thnx !

All the above recommendations are great. One series that no one seems to read that is amazing is Lucifer. So far everyone that I've recommended it too has come back and said it was mindblowingly good, but being that the main character is the devil it's a bit hard to get people to actually try it out. It is absolutely my favorite series.

Three others that have not been mentioned yet are Sandman, Transmetropolitan and Preacher. None of the ones I've mentioned are super hero based, but they are all tried and true performers in adult comics.

My top recommendation is the Sword, see it now before they announce they're going to turn it into a movie.

Also, the Surrogates, the Umbrella Academy, Popgun (for variety), the Dark Tower series, there are Buffy and Firefly stories, Black Summer, Locke & Key, there are a lot of really good Batman stories (like Haunted Knight, Arkham Asylum, the Long Halloween, Year One, the Killing Joke, etc.), Hack/Slash, Spawn (a personal favorite), Jonah Hex, Punisher MAX, Fables... there's got to be something in there you'll love. ;)

Superman for all seasons was good, Also there was a Superman GN that Jeff talked about on one of the shows that I can't remember the name but it was about a normal kid named clark kent that hated superman and ended up getting his powers very cool.

The last one I read though was the new GN "Joker" very cool story.

I couldn't agree more about Y the last man great run of comics.

Here's a thread I started awhile ago with stuff in general about comics/GN's. Probably a lot of recommendations and such in there. http://revision3.com/forum/showthread.php?t=21092

My personal recommendation currently is Scott Pilgrim because Watchmen was a bit of a downer and it was cool to read something funny and different.

I know people have already mentioned them, but I really dig "The Ultimates", "Ultimate Spiderman","The Killing Joke", and "The Dark Knight Returns"

I second all of those...

Oh and I'm starting on Buffy season 8, I can only assume that it will be awesome aswell.

I ended up downloading it, I was sick when I read it and it had a nice charm to it that made me feel a little better. Great take on superman.

As far as good stories that have a adult lean on them in the sequential art story telling genre (comics :P), I would highly recommend these comics and graphic novels.

From the indie (well not the big two) side of things:

As said before, but not expanded on, the Walking Dead is one of the best stories to be done in the field of comics. Yes, it is a zombie outbreak story, but it is so much more than that. Anyone who likes zombies will go crazy for this comic, and anyone who isn't into zombies would also love it, because of the highly detailed and fleshed out personalities of the people left to deal with the outbreak. This story deals more with the reality of how PEOPLE would react to a breakdown of society. Although there are zombie moments in the story, the real horror is shown to be uncivilized mankind.

Some other great Dark Horse/Image/indie comics that you should find would include:

The Escapist, Astro City (highly recomended for Watchmen fans.. the most current series were called the Dark Ages), the Dark Horse series of Conan, and The Umbrella Academy.
Some older trades you may want to find in this catagorie would be Albion(plotted by Moore and his daughter), Any Miracle Man trades, any Nexus trades, & any trades from the Alan Moore series Top Ten, about an alternate universe version of earth where evry one has super powers and it follows a police force.

From The DC side:

The first two books I would recomend from the DC side would be Kingdom Come & the New Frontier.

The former deals with a DC Universe where all the known heroes are much older, a new breed of anti-heroes has sprung up who are more interested in fighting than doing anyone any good, and a huge disaster splits up the superpowered community. Superman is retired because of the shame he feels in not stopping one of his enemies from doing (lets just say something bad). All of this leads to an epic battle for the fate of the world, although not everything is exactally black and white. There are many lkayers to this story and it has some very deep and profound elements. It also has beautiful fully painted artwork by Alex Ross.

The second is a much more sentimental look at classic DC heroes in an early 60s setting. The story encompasses the entire silver age DCU, and shows some very early parings of some of the most beloved heroes of DC. It's basically a crisis type story, but much easier to follow, and is really just a lot of fun. It does a good job of capturing what makes each character special.

As far as series to jump on, I admit I have not been able to afford monthly issues in some time now, but I was really enjoying Birds of Prey, Nightwing, Justice Society, & Robin about 6 months ago.

Also, a not much talked about older series that is collected in trades and deserves to be read is the Books of Magic. The story follows a boy who discovers he is destined to become the greatest magician in the DCU, as he is born of man and the fey(farie people). At first he isn't very into the idea of it, but eventually comes to accept his fate. As you can imagine his world is turned upside down and he eventually meets up with most of the important mystical figures in the DCU including John Constitine & Zatana. The main character is named Tim, and he is a young british boy. This was written BEFORE Harry Potter, so don't even let that enter the mind.

There are tons more to recommend, but that should get you started at least.

only started reading comics recently and only read a few and not really reading so much now. so my opninon is kinda lop-sided.

not really a DC fan but haven't read much anyways, the Sandman (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sandman_(Vertigo)) is like seriously amazing and a spin-off from it, Lucifer (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucifer_(DC_Comics)) is quite good. haven't read the other spin-offs but i want to.

and from Marvel, ultimate spider and the general universe is pretty great but there's cancelations somewhere i think. haven't read much else but i liked Origin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wolverine:_Origin), Evil That Men Do (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spider-Man/Black_Cat:_The_Evil_that_Men_Do) those are pretty good. and Deadpool and Cable hilarious.

Ultimate Spider-Man is fun and a great in every way!

I second Batman: The Long Halloween, and I'd say follow that up with Batman: Hush.

I really liked a Superman book called The Red Son... it's actually an alternate history story. What if Superman's spaceship crashed in the USSR instead of USA? Very cool twist to the story.

I was going to pretty much suggest all these too. Most of what I'd say have been mentioned already. Some other recommendations I'll list are:

Batman: Year One
Robin: Year One
Green Lantern Rebirth and Sinestro Wars
Marvel 1602
