So I am looking to buy an external hard drive in order to fully utilize Time Machine and to really keep all of my files safe...or safer at least. What do you guys suggest? Western digital seems pretty legit. Are the cheapest ones okay? Or do they fail? Do they glitch? What is the difference, other than size, between a cheap 1 tb hard drive and a more expensive 1 tb hard drive. Also, what size should I get? I have quite a bit of files/movies/music but when I say quite a bit I mean like 100 gigs of files and then 200 gigs of movies that a friend has.

Pretty much anything you pick up at the local electronics store is going to work fine. Personally, I usually check Newegg.com reviews on specific drives. It's hard to tell what make and model of hard drive is inside, so it's hard to really shop for specific things.

Another option is to buy an empty enclosure and the drive of your choice. If you get both on sale it could be cheaper, and you'd have total control over the hard drive inside.

argh, you are a day late for the twit special at 88$ (http://twit.tv/picks) for a terabyte. Still good price, though. Needs an enclosure.
