Does anyone else think it doesn't quite stand up to that of the former 1up show?
I still love the show, don't get me wrong, but that song was just so catchy (every version).

I agree, I didn't like the new song as much as the last few 1upshow themes, but the new song is growing on me.
I will say the intro animation is outstanding, and could be my all time favorite.

I'm rather enjoying the new theme, although I'll reserve judgement until I've heard it a few more times.
Got to agree on the intro animation though, it's rather good.

Not sure, I do prefer the co-op tune above the last incarnation of the 1up one. Really enjoyed the english one before that one though, the "just want to stay home and play my video games" one. It summarized the general mood of the show perfectly with gamers having grown up and are now deprived of their playtime by the nasty concept of work. Not entirely sure what the japanese one was about.
The co-op one feels quite appropriate and like a breath of fresh air. Same general feel but new. Also, unrelated but had to throw it out there, whoever imagined the last scene of the first podcast with the gang walking down the corridor together... just poetry.

I in-fact really, really like the new theme. I wish Jonathan had touched up the full version a bit more (I think there's a vocal track missing that's present in the opening version), but I'm in love with the tune.

I don't think the co-op theme is as good as the 1up theme. But that's like saying I don't think Wish You Were Here is as good as Dark Side of the Moon. I like the co-op theme/Wish You Were Here a lot, but I mean come on.

I think it's just as good as the old theme. I've listened to it a couple of times now as a stand alone song and I really like it.
Although the old song holds more meaning. I mean all the great remixes of that song after the layoffs... wow were some of them heart felt masterpieces. That is the only reason why the old song might be better.
I still remember hearing the orchestra version of it and getting tears in my eyes for crying out loud!

Everytime they switch the tune up a bit, or in this case a lot, people complain.
Everyone hates change, you will get used to it, and the next time it changes, a thread like this will be made.
I miss a couple things from the old 1up show however, outside of the people that left. The first is going to be them showing the overall atmosphere and behind the scenes action of 1up.com. Loved it when they would do an E3 show, or a big event would happen, and it would show whats it's like over there at 1up.
The second is the show coming out on Fridays. I would look forward to getting home from work/being out, then watching the show before I want to sleep to wind down.

I don't remember who thought of that first, but that was actually done just outside of Revision3's actual door down a big hallway. We knew the light came in through that window at "magic hour" (just before sunset) and that it would make a PERFECT silhouette. Came out even better than we anticipated. Also, with our new camera and a P2 card we knew we could do true slow-mo for the fist time, so it was kinda just a confluence of awesome :)

Opps, I think I walked out of the office just as you guys where filming. I didn't say hi cause I was a little in a rush to pick someone up. Sorry. :-p
p.s. I also thought you guys where part of the other production office next door.

The 1UP Show theme song was very iconic. It changed in some seasons while keeping it's core rythmn (what ever music term is the right one).
I mean, I often sing the lyrics in my mind. I know it by heart without havinf read the lyrics! It's some passion there. Jane Pinckard & Eric Haller will never be forgotten.

Agree with all of this.
When the 1UP Show theme changed that last time, it was off-putting at first, but it totally grew on me by the end. Likely, the same will happen with Co-Op for those who don't like it, I think. My wife, however, never grew to love the 1UP Show theme, so... I dunno. She thought it was weird.
That last shot... Nothing I can add to what you said. It was just a perfect way to end the first episode. Just epic.

Man. Wow, maybe I'm just a big hater or something. I don't like the CO-OP theme at all. I didn't even think to compare it to the 1UP show theme because I still wouldn't like it if the 1UP show theme never existed. I just can't get into it, and I think it's not very good as a THEME song. It doesn't have that..."catchy-ness" for me. It's alright though. Seeing that all of you enjoy it, and seeing tweets about the Area5 guys loving it, it's definitely staying. Sucks for me, but I guess it sucks for me and ONLY me.
No disrespect to Mann and Jane though. Not everyone was gonna like it, I'm sure they thought of that while making it.

That's just it - everyone has their own tastes, so it's all good. I don't think there's a single song in the world that everyone who hears it loves. Except, maybe, Girlfriend by Avril Lavigne.
The content of the show is still good, even if the music isn't your thing.

lol. I don't know about that Girlfriend thing. I'm not really a fan.
Anyway, yeah the content is incredible and rather than be a douchebag and ditch the show because I dislike the theme song a lot, I'm definitely sticking with it. Been a fan since the 3rd or 4th episode (I forget which is the first one I watched entirely). Not gonna stop being one anytime soon.

You COULD just record the intro. With something like Audacity. Although, I'm sure if you ask nice, the crew will hook you up with something.

I'm glad most people enjoy the theme though, Jane and Jonothan do good work.

I never heard the last 1up theme, but this new theme has struck me hard. It is been stuck in my head (along with the video) for the last two days "Zombies!!". The animation is outstanding, with all the references, and art style. The music is great!!
I also love the style of the cold openings (with the text), and "Area 5 is:"
Great Show!!

First I have to say, I love the show, loved the 1up show. None of the prior 1up show theme songs bothered me. I HATE the co-op theme song... sorry. Its the only thing I would change if I could. It's not growing on me.

The old school 1-Up show song had an amazing hook. But, all things get stale. Let 'em try something new. People seem so hostile to change. But, every change means a chance to make things better.

That was (gray screen song) Torrey Holbrook Walker - Pankton (great track); it was off the 1upshow sound track, which you can find if you look hard enough ;)
Not sure on the montage song was, sounds new.

Uh why? I seem to recall I got the torrent link for the 1UP Show OST from Ryan O'Donnells twitter.
It's not like it's available to buy anywhere.
http://www.mininova.org/tor/2164722
There's the link there for anyone who might like it, I actually noticed some of the music in this weeks ep which was pretty sweet.
Also like to say Good Rap by Rob Bowen is absolutely fantastic, I fucking adore it.
Anyway, if the Area 5 guys do have a problem with me putting up the link I'll gladly edit it out, but like I said it came from Ryan so I don't see why they would and the more seeders the better it's an awesome collection of music.

I wasn't so sure about the opening theme song at first, but I'm starting to like it. Living up the the 1UP show song is a tall order, but I think the new song really does fit the new show and it gets better the more you hear it, at least for me. For those who don't know the old song, this is the "classic" version:

Assumed the torrent would be dead by now, and was too lazy to go looking for it. ^^

I love TRS, will be a fan until the end, however, I could see why someone would stop watching it in favor of a games-only show, where they seem unbiased (thinking of Alex, specifically.. but not really trying to argue this - I love the shows, and love Alex in TRS, too) and more focused.
Different strokes for different folks.
Of course, that might not be his reason - maybe he just doesn't have a spare hour for TRS anymore? I dunno. I know some busy people, but never quite understood it.

You hit it right on the head. I feel TRS has an unhealthy bias, and also they throw media at you from too many different places. I've always said their show would be better if they broke it up into like 4 shows.

I must say that if you're in a relationship, and this show (and other revision 3 shows) is a weekly event for your relationship, this theme song can have a lot of meaning. I'm not trying to be corny/sappy, but I sing it when we drive in the car and it makes him laugh and shake his head at me. I like that, and it reminds me of our gaming sessions.
I'm a sap yes and this is my first post though I'm a long time fan of several Rev3 shows. So hi.
