I'll just keep my fingers crossed for a good game. It can easily go either way.
And I'm not sure of everyone else's thoughts, but I'm kind of hoping for a hefty amount of villains, and I wasn't exactly informed of many.

I heard that Poison Ivy, Riddler, and another one is suppose to make an appearance. At least, based off the Gametrailers' pop out video they do.
Super excited for the game. Returning voices, looks great, and seems to be more than a beat-em up with the stealth element. Hopefully it's good, and hopefully it takes a good chunk of time. Though I'd rather an incredible 5 hour experience than a horrible 10 hours.

I am definitely up for a stealth/action batman game. It could be like Splinter Cell with a super hero twist. Definitely seems to be more attuned to who the Dark Knight really is as a character.

The name of the game is 'Arkham Asylum', so how could there not be a huge amount of bat-villains. I am quite sure that Joker will be the ringleader, but we will likely see all of the usual suspects. Harley Quinn, Mr Freeze, the Riddler, Two Face, Hugo Strange, ect.
I like the look of the game, as I feel it finally gets the tone of what a Batman game should feel like. Batman doesn't just go running into a room and start punching everything in sight as some games would have you believe, but instead would use stealth to sneak up on foes & scare the bejeezus out of them. He'd then knock out all but one, and use the last to extract any information he needs. Rinse & repeat till a boss battle, where it would be more like an out in the open/straight forward fight, although use of cover and gadgets would only up the fun factor and the strategic nature of the gameplay.

This was about the best topic I could find to resume. I've been playing Arkham Asylum lately, and boy is it fantastic. I'm just loving the mood, the combat, upgrades. Very Metroidy, which is my favourite game series. The first Scarecrow scene? Creepy awesome.

I'm glad there is an AA thread. I can't believe this game seemed to come out of nowhere for me. I'd heard bits around the web but the closer it got to release man it flooded me and I bought in. I recommend checking out the Arkham Asylum comics since they seem to be a good source for the material used in the game. A lot of differences, but a lot in common too.
I'm finally towards the end. I've only gotten to play bits at a time since September, but every time seems to be real satisfying. I'm looking forward to the second one and hope they can come close to the first one. Sequels are hard especially for really good video games.

I'm more worried that it'll be like L4D2, i.e. largely similar in terms of graphics and gameplay, with only new bosses and levels. Then again, that's hardly a complaint.

I wouldn't mind that either. From the looks of the trailer, Joker may be seen and possibly not the main boss. I just finished the game and there are some hints at what could be in the next game. I kind of hope Two-Face could be the new main villain.
I also recommend the Arkham Asylum comic to read up on the Amadeus Arkham story. It's a very stylish graphic novel and an enjoyable enough story.
