View Full Version : The Intros DVD

As I'm soooo excited about the release of an intros DVD I wondered what everyone else's thoughts were. What would you like to see on there and how much would you pay for it etc. For me personally, I want to see every intro included and I would LOVE to have commentary on every single one and I'm more than happy to pay £10 (maybe more) for the disc. The discussion the guys had on the top 5 intros in episode 104 really whet my appetite for more. I just hope they'll ship to the UK.

I'm a bit on the fence about this one. Sure, I enjoy the intros before the shows, but I wouldn't enjoy sitting down and watching all of them in a row. They're entertaining as a show opener, but I really wouldn't spend an extended amount of time watching them.

On the other side I did really enjoy the commentary on the intros on the show, so more of that I would be interested in.

Will really have to see when more details come out.

I'm incredibly excited for the DVD, especially since I'm now aware that it contains ALL intros (due to this mysterious transition). Commentary will be great to watch, and I'm hoping for a slew of outtakes. And basically, I'm fine with any price. Always more than happy to support TRS!

I wonder when the DVD will come out however.

I want that DVD. It would be fun to see all the intros whenever I want, with bonuses.
I hope they release it on Blue-Ray as well

I agree that the intros should just be one after the other. They could easily put the commentary as audio to be turned on or off, depending on how you want to watch them. Some I don't really care about how it was made, etc, while others I really want to hear some discussion on it. For a TRS dvd, I'd gladly pay $20+ for it.

I'm pretty excited about the DVD as well. The intros would be cool to have, especially since they're going away, but I'm more excited for the commentary and any other "extras" on there. It would be really cool if each one of the guys would spend time sharing things they love, movies, books, games, etc... I'd spend $20+ in a heartbeat.

i am really excited about this DVD, and i plan on buying this and i really don't think price is an issue, ok, if it's really expensive, i might have an issue. but the very cool thing is that this is going to be a cool way to show others the rad that is the totally rad show, and maybe get a few more people into the show.

it would be cooler if we could get all the episodes too, these could be in a "the steve years" box set, just a thought

Idk, when I first heard about it, I was really excited. But now that I think about it, I've seen all the intros before and can watch them for free.

I'm just hoping there's a lot of commentary about each one and that they talk about ones they wanted to do but couldn't. Stuff like that. Then I will buy it for sure.

P.S. What are they going to do about torrents? I'm sure there will be one, but I won't do it.

Really, if the big studios can not stop torrents then I doubt TRS could. Plain and simple this is just for us fans and I can say the majority of people on this forum will gladly help the guys by supporting the DVD (or high def Blu-Ray version, I can dream) and not pirating it.

Yeah, and I'm not sure who would upload it. You'd have to be a real jerk to do that, and I think most of us want to support the show so I'm not sure who would download it either...

I think it's a certainty that some butt-much will upload it to torrents just to prove how 'leet he is. He'll make up some bullshit excuse to rationalize it, but in the end it'll be out there. I don't think it will stop people from buying the DVD though. As a keepsake and collectible, I want the actual disk anyway.

I just wonder if they're able to put the actual clips on it because I liked seeing the original clip along side TRS' version. Guessing there's too many copyright issues there. In any case, throw in commentary along with some behind the scenes stuff, and I'd gladly buy 'em to show support. Bloopers! Always can use more bloopers.

tbh, I'd rather pay for a digital version of it than buy a DVD, because then I wouldn't have to worry about shipping or storage and could have it in HD and watch it on any device without having to rip it first.

Good point Wes. (Which reminds me, I have to look up Dennis Millers' DVD collection. Hell, he nearly made it upon my request.)

When I was writing/contributing to local morning radio, I bought 20 copies of their yearly CD/DVD (at the time), and gave them to everyone important. Including 5 to the battalion of another listeners' son in Iraq. I trusted that they would be passed around.

All in all, Wes, one way or another, you will have a copy. You have earned it.

I would buy it if it had lots of extras and outtakes and side by side of the original scene.

Id probably spend $15/20 bucks on it. Maybe more if it had a lot of extras, it should also have an awesome case. Having something TRS on my dvd shelf would just be awesome no matter what it is so ill probably buy it.

I felt like this week's episode is likely a miniature example of at least part of the DVD experience, and I enjoyed the crap out of that segment. It would take some outrageous pricing to keep me from picking it up.

I hadn't considered a possibility of Blu-Ray. That would be pretty sweet.

doesn't blu ray quality depend on if it was shot in super hi quality to begin with? Is bluray ubiquitous enough to warrent that yet?

I dont see it being on bluray.

I'd buy it no matter what it cost and no matter what was on it, but obviously I too am hoping for a ton of extras. That'll definitely be the fun part that gets me to sit down and plug it into my DVD player.

My only concern is that it might be a PayPal only thing. iFanboy memberships and Hurm shirts are and unfortunately that means I can't support them. Paypal screwed me over in the past (primarily my fault, but they weren't very helpful), and now I can't use it.

They offer a version in HD every week. I would say that there is a pretty high percentage of TRS viewers that are owners of a PS3, so that part of the equation might make sense. I think the limiting factor would be how expensive it would be for them to get the blu-ray version manufactured. That's the part which would make this unlikely, but a geek can dream, can't he?

scoobydiesel
03-20-2009, 10:26 PM
Yeah thats the problem they will run into, blank blu ray disks still cost too much for the amount that they might sell it to us for.

I mean I would buy it but it will be more on blu ray without a doubt. I see them just doing dvd so everyone really has a chance for it. and not both because the price it would take them to do.

Only with such a geeky audience would so many people be asking about blu-ray.

I seriously doubt it. Far too much of a hassle to produce considering demand will probably be pretty low (for blu-ray, not the DVD in general).

I really hope it comes out in blu-ray, considering it was a big reason for me to get a ps3 (along with the fact that the ps3 is just awesome).
But also I'd love to see them in HD just because I love the intro's so much, and I'd be willing to pay 5 extra bucks for a HD version.

And I'm really not sure that it matters if it was shot in High Resolution, because there are plenty of blu-ray's of movies that came out LONG before high def video was around.

But I'm getting this no matter what, that and these guys need some more shirts to sell, I'm dying for some way to show off my TRS pride.

Those movies were shot on film, which contains more info than what ended up on the DVD transfers. If you were shooting it in a resolution lower than that a DVD can handle then there wouldn't be any advantage to Blu-Ray that upscaling the DVD couldn't do as well.

I still can't wait, i love all the intros and as i have gone back and rewatched some of my old favorite episodes, I was shocked at the amount of stuff I've forgotten, including all the intros. I really hope there is commantary, outtakes from some of the best intros (or a couple from all). I cannot wait until they announce a release date.

I was just wondering if you guys will offer a Digital Download of the Intros DVD, i know this has a lot of logistical nightmares but i dont want to be paying international shipping on this thing as where i live the couriers constantly get mixed up and go down the wrong road and then the parcel gets marked as "cant find address" and its a nightmare to try and sort out.

The only reason to buy a "Intros" DVD would be for special features, outtakes, commentary, or just the convenience of not having to watch/stream them from the web. Supporting the show is another reason to buy it.

Releasing it blu-ray would not be cost-effective for them and while several of us do have blu-ray players, most of us do not. For those of you who MUST have these intros in HD and on a blu-ray, you can download each of these intros from the site and then burn it on blu-ray yourself. You just wouldn't be getting the Special Features. (but who needs that to be in HD)

While I like the videos themselves, I really hope there is significant outtake and "making-of" content. If so, I will definitely buy it (if they ship to oz). If not, well, maybe, depends. After all, we've all seen the videos before.
