Sony announced this morning that the PS2 has dropped from $129.99 to $99.99, effective tomorrow. This was a pretty poorly-kept secret, as retailers revealed it in their circulars and via images of computer inventory screens..

This is cool and all, but not the price cut that many had hoped for.

I just bought a PS2 a few weeks ago, so this is slightly annoying to me. But whatever, it makes up for the fact that the PS3 price hasn't technically dropped in well over a year, since before I bought mine. :)

At least it's still being supported. I haven't seen a single Xbox on shelves since the day before the 360 launched.

Yeah MS stopped making the thing the very month 360 launched and MS lost 1 billion$ on it and now on 360 already lost around 4.(thanks to red ring)

Last game I believe released for it was Madden 08 and only one shipment was sent.

still think PS2 should at least be 80$ or less, should have been 99$ 2 years ago.
Like when PSone,SNES were 50$ new it was instant buy.
But anyway I will still probably get one later and I really like the silver slim.
Just too bad I will never get my new copy of Ico back...oh well cand find it used and look hard enough maybe find one with a cover and manual and in decent shap for 40$ or less.
Ico and Okami were the #1 reasons for me to get one..now that I own Okami and played it(now one of my fave games) Ico is left..then of course add other amazing titles later.:)

I bought the PS2 because of the God of War 3 trailer... I had to play the first two before the third comes out.. And I always wanted to play Shadow of the Colossus, and ICO.

I bought all of those, plus more. Currently have 18 or 19 PS2 games.. Heh.

I stocked a few Xbox games last fall, I know Madden was one of them which isnt shocking. But there was something else.

Of course it wasnt nothing worth while. but yeah Xbox is all but dead, I love sony for keeping their stuff alive as long as money making possible.

I wasn't talking about Xbox games, I was talking about the console. Even GameCubes were still being sold well after the Wii launched. Leftover Xbox stock was pulled the same night that the 360 launched, and the unsold consoles probably sit in a landfill next to E.T. and Mirror's Edge.

Xbox stopped making the first Xbox like a month before they released the 360, so they could produce their new system more quickly. I wish they still make them, though.

GameCubes have better specs than a PS2, but the PS2 has soooo many more games and a better controller, hence the PS2 is still a somewhat viable console, especially for $99 brand new. Nintendo should have used a regular DVD format for their GameCube media. But I still love the GC -- have 4 of them.
