We had a little get together last night from some christmas cooking. Everyone was making deserts and I made Cheese Pie.

In the episode itself, he calls the cheese "pepper jack," but both his cheese and the cheese you used seems to be missing peppers o_O. I'm a bit worried because I'm about to make this dish, and I've got a pound of pepper jack cheese with me, but it seems to be loaded with peppers. Is this a bad thing? Is it going to significantly alter the taste of the dish to a state of inedibility?
Update: Ah, I made it anyways. It's ****ing good :) My mom won't eat any though. She says the very idea of a cheese pie disgusts her. :(

I was bored tonight and decided to give this one a try. I did everything the video said and i thought it came out looking good as hell. So I let it sit for about 10 minutes and when I cut a slice it was really really runny. It looked like the egg was still really runny as well. So i let it sit for another 20 minutes and take another slice. Its still runny but not as bad. Did I do anything wrong or should I have just let it sit longer.

I finally got around to making cheese pie about a week ago and it was a rousing success. I initially took it out after about 25 minutes and it was pretty runny. After about five more minutes in the oven (and letting it sit for a spell) it was a rousing success. Everyone enjoyed it a great deal. I think that it was the most complicated recipe I've ever attempted.

Vegita, if the eggs were runny as well, you have to alter the cooking. Cheese should have set up nicely after 20 minutes. Make sure the rack is in the middle of the oven and cook it longer. Watch the crust though to make sure it doesn't burn.
Far as the Pepper Jack Cheese not looking like it had peppers. Well it may have been many things. They still say pepper jack although they didn't use it. Because they don't like it as much, or didn't consider the difference between the two. Could also be a camera catching it on film thing. Personally. I would go with the regular Jack Cheese. Pepper Jack seems ruined to me. The heat ruins the flavor.

I had this the other day. And it was awesome...disgusting, but still really, really tasty. I felt like I was going to die after having two slices (1/4 of the pie).

I would imagine, to avoid the runny egg situation, you could actually just cook up some scrambled eggs, and then lay them into the cheese pie. Haven't tried it, but it's just a variation that might work.

Variations could include diced grilled chicken breast, some veggies like maybe some black olives, onion, potato, broccoli.
But using scrambled eggs sounds like a lame idea. If your eggs are runny, drop the oven temp 25 to 50 degrees to keep from burning and cook for five to ten minutes longer.

I tried putting some chicken in it was not half bad. Cut back on the eggs though for some reason when you got to much egg in a bit with the chicken it had a chance of making a strange flavor.

I've made this twice now, I mistakenly thought that it should be 4 eggs the first time and it came out a bit runny, so 10 more min cleared that up. The second time I beat the eggs with some hot sauce (Franks Red Hot - The greatest hot sauce ever) and a pinch of salt and pepper. One word. EPIC
