I just read New Avengers: Illuminati and realized that although I know who Namor is and have seen him cameo in lots of other books, I don't know of many stories in which he plays a big part. What are the good Namor-centric stories out there?

There have been a couple Namor minis that have come out over the last couple of years (though their names escape me...) that I heard were good. Also, a lot of the older Fantastic Four stuff has some great Namor in it. It's always been a stronger side character. The last arc of Captain America had some great Namor moments in it as well.

The last Uncanny X-Men annual had some great Namor moments.

I think Jae Lee did a Namor series that was supposed to be good.

Remember that gem of 'Sub-Mariner: The Depths' by Peter Milligan and Esad Ribic?

Get that immediately!

If you want a funnier take on namor, I'd recommend Indefensible by Giffen, DeMetteis and Maguire. Funniest Defenders story ever.

Jae Lee's run (Namor 26-38) hasn't been collected in a trade as far as I can tell.

So, I guess The Depths is all there is.

I'll third the Jae Lee series. I never even noticed Namor until I picked up The Savage Namor #38 (Shadows of Evil). The artwork blew me away (and that was 15 years ago).

Hey, how about this week: there's a 70th Anniversary issue that features a Namor story. It looks great.

Seconded -- Mitch Breitweiser draws an amazing Namor (he did the Uncanny Annual somebody else mentioned) and this should be a sweet book.

I think any sort of 'Invaders' series would have a high Namor content, but I don't have a good idea of what's available in print.

Aw man what was that series called?

You know where it took place during/after Civil War and had that shocking ending that Marvel totally didnt commit too....This is gonna drive me nuts now.

If you know what I am talking about though that was a very good mini. Just cant remember the name

I think it might just have been called Sub-Mariner. 6 issues, followed up on Civil War, had the ending that has now been followed up on with Dark Illuminati.

Yes! That was the series I was trying to remember. That was pretty good, people should definitely look into it. Although someone said that the reveal for this is now paying off in Dark Reign....I would imagine very very loosely. Cause they might be friends with Osborn, but I have yet to see really any pay off for Namor and Doom working together.
