View Full Version : Is Beta dying?

It sure seems like it, from my perspective.

When it started out, it showed promise with the premieres of a whopping 7 shows with more submitted shows along the way.

Or was it?

Only three shows ever update there anymore:
-Bottles, Blends, and Brews
-That's Awesome.TV
-Your Weekly Music Lesson With Walt

That's it. And yes, I know HackCollege is still in production, but they're not even uploading their videos to the Beta site anymore. You'd have to check either Viddler or HackCollege.com to see new episodes, so I'm assuming they've given up on this, because they probably already know what I'm theorizing in this post.

And on the topic of submitted shows: Did anyone even attempt to submit applications for new shows there? If so, why haven't they been added? The application link is still there, so either people aren't trying or Rev3 isn't even looking at them. I thought Beta was supposed to be the place for potential pilot shows, and if successful, they'd be promoted to Rev3's ranks. It's been months; why haven't any of them joined the family yet? Meanwhile, a bunch of other shows since its inception jumped straight to the Rev3 family, bypassing the Beta site and defeating its purpose.

So, what's the deal? Is this site just going to rot, or is Rev3 going to do something about it?

I asked the same thing on this thread (http://revision3.com/forum/showthread.php?t=26824), got a PM that it was still a go. But I don't think I believe it. Rev3 is letting down it's hardcore fans in so many ways these days. Sigh.

Aww Chuckles, you rock. And I specifically didn't mention names out of respect for ya.

I don't know your specific title/responsibilities, so I don't know if you are in the decision making process about the Beta idea. I would never hurt my dear Chuckles. *sniff* :(

It's not dying as long as we're getting entertainment out of whatever is still being updated there. Walt and BBB are both doing a fantastic job of keeping their stuff interesting and high quality. If you like what any of the updated shows do, just keep watching and join their communities to let them know support is there. As a music student I've gotta say that Walt is one of the best musical educators I've seen and bringing his material to the internet for free is really an impressive feat. Beta is at least worth that, as for migrating those shows over to Rev3 or bringing new shows to the beta, I'm not too sure. But at least we got a few interesting shows out of the beta and as long as they stay there, we've got internet entertainment at hand... intertainment...

Like what? There are new episodes of BBB (http://www.bottlesblendsandbrews.com) and That's Awesome.TV (http://thatsawesome.tv) on their respective websites. Why aren't they on R3B?

I don't think they even want to bother with this site anymore...

Well, NextNew networks is doing a "beta" thing, too. But I think they are taking it seriously. Give them a shot.
