Hi all , Im Danny and im a 12 year old. I would like to shoot a video show about tech or maybe a podcast but I don't really know what cameras to get for a video cast and what mics do I need for a podcast? Can I make a show all by myself since it seems that no one else my age is interested in tech. as much as I am?

Hey Danny, I know when you're young you want to do everything you see because you're excited about it. My advice is to take your time and have patience to learn the ropes. That said, you can use any camera really, it would be helpful if it can connect to your PC, but that's for video. If you're thinking audio alone, you may want to look into a course in broadcasting, or just start with topics you are excited about and chat away. Try the Podcasting Episode of SYSTM (http://revision3.com/systm/podcasting) as well, it should be helpful.

How awesome is it that the kids these days are so eager to learn tech. I find that really great.
Best of luck. My only advice would be to learn video/audio editing software.
Or find someone you know that does.

I suggest that you have a camera that is MiniDV Compatable, Have some sort of Video or Audio Editing Software -- I recomend Adobe Premiere, Learn some basic HTML and XML, You really just need to be able to read it, and kind of make it out to what you can understand. Get yourself a host, for audio only (ODEO is the best!) for Video Only (Revver, and Blip.tv are amazing), Lastly get a blog or a website of some sort, Blogger works good, and it is strong and reliable! But the truely most important thing you need, is an outline of where you want your pod/vid cast to go in the future (Write it down and don't lose it), ORGANIZATION (Write Down show notes before you start!), and strong determination (don't get bord and just leave it at no end).
That's it, good luck!

Noting can stop the combination of Vegas 6, and Audacity. Also, if you're gonna do a vidcast / iptv show, keep me posted :)

That is true, but Audacity and Premiere are AMAZING!

I've heard Premiere is good, but my OS doesn't support it. Vegas 6 really comes in handy for me.

Hmmm what can I call my vid cast?
It's hard to do a vid/pod/cast on a certain thing, cause there are so many tutorials on the internet that are easier to follow, and like once you do that 1 thing, then its done.
You need to base it on something that can continue and continue for awhile.

call it.. your best friend since the monopoly board mm k?

Like what then?? Would something on Linux be good? Im gonna have to make this with only me...id be the cameraman/host/editor etc.
If someone could really help me out with this a PM would be nice just explaining how to do this and things like that!!
Thanks,
Danny
Well if your going to do things within linux, then the base thing would be linux, but it couldn't just be about installing it, cause that would be like one show right.

Well, if you want to do your vid/pod/cast on tutorials, try
Tucast, Tutorial World, Tutoritarium, Tutorial, DIY, HOWTO:
Basicly anything, I personally like "HowTo:" But whatever! It is your choice!

If you know alot about linux then I think you should do a whole show based on linux and different things to do with linux....watch some MacBreak and use their structure for your show... just an idea. I suggest that you shoot a few episodes (5 maybe) and then edit them and start releasing them weekly as you work on new ones so you have some leeway on upcoming episodes.
