Sorry Alex, but I just can't bring myself to spend $0.99 on something like that.

Agree as well, but I also wouldn't spend money on iFart and that guy made $40k the first month or something insane like that. I'm sure there's plenty of people out there who will buy it. It is only $0.99.

I had the same attitude toward iPhone apps when I first bought my iPhone but I've changed. Once I realized that I spend 2-3 bucks a day on junk food, cokes or what not, then I had no problem replacing that junk food with a few app purchases every once and awhile.
We did this application for fun (and maybe a little profit), and don't plan on getting rich from it; however, it does cost real money to produce content and I couldn't see us sticking advertisements on something like this and getting a real return.
You can see some of the pics of the set up to do Apollo -- the great dane from the video in my TwitPic stream.

Anyhow, hope you guys give it a chance as I promise whoever you show it to will smile as much as we did while making this.
I plan on updating our site http://www.CleanMyPhone.com with some of the outtakes and more content in the future so check back every once and awhile. I'd also like any suggestions for future (free or paid) additions to the app. You can email us at iLickApp@gmail.com

Alright...so guys. After watching the newest episode of diggnation, I want this app. I am not sure if I will get it or not but the dogs are so cute and they are LICKING the screen. Epic. It's cute. It's humorous. And it supports Alex. I like.

I bought it... its really freaking dumb... and the recordings of their dogs are way too short! But whatever what is a dollar i mean really? common? Supporting Alex all the way!!!:)

In response to the length of the videos, Apple has a hard limit of 10 megabytes for applications that are installable "over the air". With the 2 videos that are on there now, using the standard iPhone compression we are at like 9.3 megs.
They raised the limit for podcasts for over the air downloads, but not applications.

Ok, I may have backtracked a little after watching Diggnation. It was kind of cute and it does support Alex. And hell, it's a buck. (Actually, $1.04 after GST in Canada)

Not that everything has to be an original idea, but this has been around for a while and this iLick app looks pretty much the same...

While I agree that it's not "original" since we borrowed the idea from the Must Love Dogs screensaver, the other application that exists in the store was released after we finished the development of the software and applied for our registered trademark.
The delay between our development and release was caused by a few factors, such as the TRS studio moving from Steve's to Alex's house. Anyhow, we just both had similar ideas at around the same time.

They have 6 dogs instead of 2....damn. But...anyway, I went ahead and purchased the app and it is worth the .99 cents to watch a dog lick your iPhone screen. I must say though....sorry Alex...I know you love your dog but...
Apollo is soo much cuter. Montana is pretty damn cute too but I like double smile while looking at the screen at little Apollo.
Good app in my opinion.

The only reason I havent bought this app is because Alex pirates apps/movies/music.

Great for Alex with all this free advertisement. The power of internet and word of mouth.

I have a new idea for an I-phone app. Sure you could have dogs licking your iphone screen(again). But what about...hobos. IHobo would come with both licking and squigee capabilities. I'm just throwing this out here.

Sounds about as dumb as a dog licking the screen.

Alex sort of stole this idea from this site:
http://doglickingscreen.com/
I wouldn't even call it an app. It's basically just a video of a dog licking the screen.

If we're going to call people out, the pug screen licking video that has been rebranded and spread around, which was the true source of our idea, was released by Warner Brothers for their Must Love Dogs movie.
You can download 4 screensavers here: http://www2.warnerbros.com/mustlovedogs/downloads.html

I like it, he chose a good first app to make, it apeals to a lot of people and it is cheap - I'm guessing he is going to make a shit ton of money on this, 50% of which from fan boys who will never use the app but wanted to see Alex's project. -- > me

The only reason I havent bought this app is because Alex pirates apps/movies/music.
Just because Alex knows better means he should stop? You should come up to Canada. My grandma downloads music without knowing it's "illegal" and my aunt streams video from sketch-bag sites and they see no harm at all. They think it's "part of computers".
As for the app, if I had an iPhone, I'd definitely buy it just to support Alex. He is the reason why I watch Diggnation. Funny as hell and more into tech stories than Kevin :)
