So I'm looking at the newly released solicits for July 2009, and I see that just like most of the other Marvel books, Hulk is gonna be reverting back to its old numbering, so issue #600 will be released.

BUT...

I look right below, and I see that Incredible Hercules #131 is being released. So now I'm a little confused...how is Marvel counting the issues of Incredible Hulk? Are they counting Jeph Loeb's Hulk #1 the next sequential issue after Incredible Hulk #112 (the last issue before Herc took over)? Are they counting the Tales To Astonish issues that he stared in? If so, does that technically make Tales To Astonish #60 (when he first appeared in the book) Incredible Hulk #7?? And be that as it may, why is Incredible Hercules still being numbered #131 when 112 of those issues were really the Hulk's book?!?!

ARRRRRRRRGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

JUST TRYING TO WRAP MY HEAD AROUND IT IS CAUSING MY BRAIN TO LIQUIFY!!!

Can anyone make sense out of this?

It's best not to try, I'm sure it's just "Eh, we'd be about 600, let's just say it's 600 now"

Generally speaking, I'd say it doesn't matter, just roll with it. Except for the probability that Marvel will use the number 600 as an excuse to start charging $3.99/issue beginning with that issue, as it seems they've done with Thor.

Yeah this is confusing.

So now there is an Incredible Hercules AND an Incredible Hulk title? Wha.....I mean, the Herc title took over Incredible Hulk. Jeph Loeb's Hulk is a completely different title now.

Why cant they just call it Hercules and renumber it to #14. Cause it is basically on it's 14th issue as a Hercules title. This seriously doesnt make any sense.

Hulk was already $3.99 before this.

I hope Herc doesn't go up to $3.99. I just started picking it up.

The solicits for July say the title of Herc is going to change.

I bet there's gonna an Incredible Hercules #1 in August, which will of course cost more. Then, 20 or so issues before that title reaches 100, Marvel will release issue 100, saying that the old series counted, so they can again do what theyre doing with most of the other books

The whole numbering thing really bothers m. You can't have it both ways. If you want to relaunch a title at #1, I have no problem with that. but the old numbering can no longer be continued. If you want the prestige of the history or whatever, then just don't change the numbering in the first place.
