It also means a BBQ video show is not long off. Start hoarding your meat!

Not necessarily. Ron moved to California, so we no longer have the "BBQ set".

Hows about you guys huddled over a George Foreman Grill? That has "hilarious" written all over it.

I didn't enjoy Kick-Ass #6 too much. Was fun, but I had better reads this week.

Also, the Skrull Kill Krew made in appearance in Avengers: Initiative during their Secret Invasion tie-in issues. They were quite entertaining in that series, but I'm hesitant to give this new mini-series a shot

Hey Josh, did you like the Thor storyline that came before JMS' run, the Michael Avon Oeming run which delt with the "final" Ragnarok (was also a tie-in to Avengers Dissasembled)? From listening to your views on Thor on this episode, this run seems to be right up your alley, since its strictly about the god side of things, and was the last of those types of stories before JMS took the reins of Thor.

I picked up this issue. It's my first experience with Invincible. I liked it and am looking forward to the next issue.

No. I don't think Oeming is a very good writer, so I tend not to buy his work. Honestly, I haven't liked a Thor book in a while. Probably the Jurgens/JRJR run from when marvel started getting its shit back together in the late 90's.

I'm guessing that this was post-Action Battle Armor Thor? haha

Probably, since I didn't read that. It was pretty standard Thor, around the same time as Waid on Cap, Busiek on Avengers and Iron Man, etc. It was a really good time for Marvel, but it just lasted a little while.

Love the variant cover of Thor 601. The one with Thor listening to an iPod.

I'd forgotten, but even I have a Thor run I like. That period when he decided mortals could not take care of Midgard on their own, so he just parked Asgard over NYC and took over the world. That explored a lot of issues that tickled my fancy at the time.

Oh, its fun.

For years Thor was too stuffy w/ that faux-opera bullshit. People forget how light hearted and silly those early Thor comics are.

Thor is still a modern day superhero. The idea of Thor grasping an iPod makes me chuckle. What can I say?

My problem with that ipod pic is the earbuds don't go into his ears.

But the buds are clearly going into the wings and not through them into his ears.

It'd also probably make a better cover for the next issue, given that he hasn't really made it out into civilization yet.

Oh I hear ya....it definitely feels like JMS is going to make Thor a little bit of campy or more fun moments. But they are on a fine line of either being funny or lame as hell.

Oh, that sounds nifty. Any idea of the creator/era?

I believe Thor went to the U.N. in that "saga" and made ridiculous demands.

That was the run right before Michael Avon Oeming's Avengers Disasemmbled tie-in. The book at the time was called Mighty Thor and I'm not sure what were the exact issue numbers, but they were before 80. I think Jurgens wrote those issues of the run

Found some other 'great' covers of Thor. You can tell the quality of this title dipped once it hit the 400 range.

Thor #366 (Everybody's 'favorite' frog; also, I love how wimpy Loki looks in this)

Thor #435 (Unless I have hearing problems....I am pretty sure Josh said this was his favorite Thor cover in the mini. No way I am wrong, right Josh? :) )

What do I call him? I call him the star of Marvel's new upcoming Pet Avengers series. Sigh.
