Finally, an episode where they talk about games I've actually played! Awesome episode, guys!

Yeah, those Maui statues pissed me off so much too--you're not alone! Equally as difficult were the "offbeat" stages, urrrgggggh! I prefer the first Rhythm Heaven because of those stages, plus it just didn't seem to be as goofy and fun.

I just got into the Battlefield Heroes beta yesterday and played it for a bit. It was fun but I wish the classes were more helpful to the team. The game doesn't really convince you that this is a game to play as a team, even though it is. I only played Battlefield 2 but that was never the issue in that game.

Also, it was cool to see Chris Kohler. Haven't seen him in anything since some Bonus Round episode from two years ago or something.

Robot Bank? Robot Fan? I'm sensing a pattern here... it seems as though our future overlords (did I say overlords? I meant protectors) are infiltrating Co-Op disguised as kitschy appliances!

I think this episode has sold me on a near-future purchase of Rhythm Heaven, though... and maybe Flight Control as well.

Excellent episode guys, loving the longer format too with a good few games on the show.

I really need to give Battlefield Heroes another go, been in the beta for a long time but when it came back after being off for a while I couldn't get into an actual game and when I did it was only with 1 guy who was on the same team as me.

Not a big JRPG fan (turn based combat has baffled me for the longest time) but Final Fantasy 13 looks bloody lovely, I was actually surprised to learn the cinemas were still CG, when you put um side by side like you did you can tell but only just. The animations in the ingame stuff give it away too they could be cleaner.

I've softened on turn based stuff a bit over the last year, played ALOT of Final Fantasy Tactics A2 and adored it, so I may actually give FF13 a look in whenever I eventually get a PS3.


Keep up the good work guys and the longer shows :) Try not to pick on Rob too much now, he'll send his army of robots after you.

Part of me is glad there's another black main character in the FF Universe...but dammmit why'd he have to be the goofy comic relief character this time lol - Well, at least he has heart. But we all know what that got the indian kid from Captain America.................................NOTHING!!!

EA really needs to work on the Battlefield Heroes micro payment strategy. I don't understand who would spend 10-20 dollars on items that only last 30 days.

I've seen a few people geared up in the Beta, but honestly, I don't see that model lasting. Eventually people will stop renewing their gear and probably be less motivated to play just because their identity expired.

I have a feeling i'll be playing 1943 more than this in the long run.

I checked out the beta because of the recommendation, and really do love the art style. Gameplay is nice too, for a free game. I mention free just because after games like TF2, I would expect some new mechanics involved (though I haven't played nearly enough), but it's forgivable given the circumstances. I agree with Forbizzle in that the micro transactions are lame. I thought about going ahead and spending 5 bucks to diversify myself, but what's the point when the item expires anyways. Makes no sense to me.

I so hate the air traffic controller game... A buddy got to 87 and i can only get like 52.

Also on a side note, I want to give mad props to Co-op, I barely come in here and hardly post here.. Probably because you don't need any advice you guys are PERFECT... keep up the great work.

Flight Control doesn't have any music during the game, just sound effects. So I've been playing with the music that I have on my phone and that helped me get 62. I've been trying to beat my brother's score 92. But lately it seems I can't get passed around 45. But try playing with some music, it seem to help me do better for a while.

I gotta agree, here. It just doesn't seem to occur JRPG developers to make main protagonists out of black or brown :/

I think I may actually be more inclined to spend money if they were constantly outputting object to customize my character that were permanent instead of, as you mentioned, expiring. Still, they do say in their beta notes that they're still experimenting with the expiration times... I gotta wonder if that means they're thinking about making more stuff permanent purchases.

I haven't played an FF since FFX because I switched over to the Xbox. I'm very excited that it's coming to the Xbox 360! I can get my JRPG on again, thanks for the preview!

Matt, what settings do you use for the joystick on BFH? I find the sensitivity is through the roof with default, but I can't seem to figure out what to fix.

another great episode. The BFH review made me actually go find my beta key again and install the game, I never got around to playing much of it when the beta came out.

Also, keep up the iPhone game reviews. so far, I've got 3 or 4 games I'm now addicted to on my iPhone because of co-op.

Another awesome episode guys, I'm glued to this thing. I kind of like the move away from totally outrageous storylines (I didn't really like the intro pitch episode) to the more laid back, but entertaining stories was better. I'm not sure we need too much fantasy in the show. Either way, this is only getting better.

(Anyone wanna drop me a link to the older non-rev3 episodes? I haven't watched them yet, and I'm lazy.)

They're on youtube i'm pretty sure, just search for them. There were only like 4 episodes.

Though if you weren't a 1up Show fan first you may not get it as much since the first episodes were great because they brought on a whole bunch of guys who were also just laid off from 1up really soon after all that shit went down, although that's just my opinion.

I played BF Heroes in beta and the game reminded me of COD meets Team Fortress. Overall the game is pretty solid. Now that the official version has been released and I have been playing it and leveling up and getting new stuff it has been a good experience. I know it is really cheap, however I wish they would give you clothing awards and stuff instead of having to actually buy them. Also there is always a limited selection of stuff to buy.
